Quick question?

Are the reserves currently growing or dropping?

I think its clear now that it wasnt the economics or market forces that was driving the concerns but more of speculation.

Lol, I've been expecting this mention. I'm interested in seeing CBNs reaction to the current slide then I'll know what to say.

Will they stand aloof and allow it get to 3000?

What game Atiku and Obi dey play now by visiting themselves? If na alignment then both of them are fools. When it was obvious that they should have done that in 2023 before Power reach Tinubu hand. Now any alignment will be harder as they have to unseat an incumbent
PBAT will finish his complete 8years! Maybe they can start the alignment after his tenure..... Besides who will be the potential Vp. Atiku abi Obi? Like you said, They should have done that last year.

Good afternoon house, please i need information about Federal Govt retirees monthly pension payment for April? Anyone who has retired parents or relatives who are collecting monthly pension from Federal Govt should kindly help me find out if they have received April payment. Thanks

Did this person participate in the just concluded verification exercise? Someone I know has not been paid but he didn't participate. I'm not sure if it's just late payment or the payment has been stopped.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has declared four Rivers State government officials wanted.
The four officials identified as Fubara Siminayi, Harrisonba Bessi Princewill, Lekia V. Bukpor and Dagogo Rodderick Abere were declared wanted over a case of criminal conspiracy, money laundering, misappropriation of public funds and abuse of office to the tune of N117 billion.

And why will Atiku trust Ekwueme to run just for 4years, Have you seen any politician who ran just for 4yrs and willingly dropped out like they always promise when rubbing for their first term?

In 2003, Atiku had the option of sticking with OBJ who has 4 more years constitutionally or going for Ekwueme who will start his own 4yrs and constitutionally have 8yrs

No be so power reach OBJ and GEJ hand and he changed it for them all

I get your point. I was thinking that Ekwueme’s age, then (I believe he was in his mid 70s) would have made Ekwueme to only run for one term.
Yeah, I agree that he could have waited for OBJ’s 8 years; or even backed GEJ in 2015, as he would have won the PDP primary in 2019

Age dey stop anyone from going for 2nd term? You think Tinubu won't go for 2nd term? See Buhari Joe Biden, Donald Trump.

Biden is 81 currently and running for 2nd term

The entire North believed GEJ betrayed them by contesting in 2011 when it should be 8yrs of the North..

If Atiku had stuck with GEJ in 2015, maybe he would have been the next president.

Sometimes I want to think the whole issue PDP has today started from the greed of GEJ. When Yaradua died, the thinking within the North was that Gej will step aside to allow them complete their tenure. In 2011 when GeJ refused to step down, the argument put forward was that GEJ should be allowed to complete the tenure so power can shift back to the north.

When GEJ decided to run again in 2015, Northern elites and politicians felt they've had enough.

grin grin grin

LordAdam16, is he exhausted now?

*chuckles*

Look at you talking about exhaustion, when Cardi B has lost his erection.
He's no spring chicken.

On a more serious note, conventional CBN interventions in the market since the drop resumed have been muted.
They've relied on their FG allies for unconventional moves that culminated in the P2P ban last week.

So why has Cardi B not opened the floodgates?
Because a huge part of the success of the March/April naira appreciation run was the liquidity boost.
FPI led the way. Market participants embraced the trend.

Say you bring in funds at 1200 rate. When the CBN pegs the rate at 1000, you're already 20% up on your investment.
For any other reason, you'd get more naira when you bring your funds early. Delay it and you'll get less naira.
Recall that even with the inflow hike, the CBN still had to reach deep into the reserves to keep the soiree going.

With the liquidity boost gone, it is a dicier and more expensive proposition for the CBN to have another go at a sub-1000 push.
Does that mean that the CBN will let the rate fall ad nauseam to 3000 and beyond without so much as a whimper?
Nah.

We're reverting back to the mean. The familiar Don Meffy seesaw.
Where when the rate rises too high too quickly, the CBN steps in.
Drags it back down by a few hundred naira.
Takes its foot off the gas.
The rate rises again. Rinse and repeat.

<hr>

If Cardi B will have the good sense to stick to this reliable script is a whole different question.
As I've maintained, the cap does not fit.

Neither Soludo, Sanusi, nor Meffy would have allowed themselves to be bamboozled into the March/April debacle by partisans.
At no point did Meffy attempt to make good on Buhari's $1 = N1 campaign promise. And it's not because no one asked or pushed for it.
He transparently intervened and pegged rates but he knew the hard limits.

But Cardi B kept twerking while the partisans hyped him up and were chanting "Go Girl".
1000/$? Yup. 700/$? Why the f*ck not. 500/$? The reserve is not for decoration. 1/$? We're going to name this "borrow to inflate currency value" hypothesis after you!

So whenever one makes prognostications about what comes next, one has to account for Cardi B going off script and making perplexing schoolboy errors that competent hands wouldn't make.
Like Goldman Sachs brought out a marker and publicly yelled: N1200/$. That's your mf*cking EOY target.
Yet the bimbo revved up at the edge of a cliff and screamed "Witness me".

All of that said, on a long enough timeline, the dollar will always bend the naira over a barrel and show her the fifty states.
Those who held their dollars close or were brave enough to buy below 1200 should enjoy the melt up.
Those who are contemplating buying now should know the drill. Buy low: Sell high. If the market moves against you and you were unable to get out on time, hold your position.
No one is sharing palliatives for all the folks who bought high and listened to the "Sell your dollar" crooners.

I enjoy reading your takes on this topic.

Are these measures sustainable? I mean long term.. Some of these measures Cardi has been utilizing, I worry should be secondary measures used to support the stabilization of the Naira not primary. Is the constant volatility of the market typical or as a result of more critical economic issues we have not addressed?

Our debt profile is still climbing, our non-oil manufacturing/ production revenue has not improved significantly and inflation numbers are also increasing. How much longer can we keep dipping deep into our reserves to keep the Naira stable?

An interesting read. Xenotransplantation is a potentially a game changer but cloning human cells in addition to stem cell therapy i.e regenerative medicine would be the ultimate game changer.

Thanks for sharing this, bro. This an interesting research area, which I'm currently doing research work on as one of the applications of Consciousness Science.

I believe breakthroughs will be achieved in the field of xenotransplantation in the coming years when scientists find a way to link different fields of Medicine together with other fields and disciplines.

There's a way to do this using Consciousness Science as a tool inspired by the Odu Ifa literary corpus, and we're building the application for that currently. We're close to completing the first phase.

Medicine (including xenotransplantation, genetics, and the likes) also falls under Consciousness Science in my approaches.

The human brain is such a beauty.
The human brain is really wondrous, and there is still a lot about it that brain scientists and other experts don't know as of now.

The human brain is such a complex organ; all aspects of reality (Mother Nature) we perceive as real and solid are all products of imagination by the brain. Our technologies, cars, arts, movies, music, everything else are all pictures generated by the brain as these things don't really exist the way we perceive them to be.

They're simply consciousness and energy. Even the Universe as a whole don't actually exist the way we think. It's just an idea in the head.

It's the brain playing games on us because the majority can't see beyond the matrix — the three spatial dimensions and one temporal dimension (4D).

I love what this Igbo guy is doing reviving the Nsibidi writing system in his project called the Modern Nsibidi Project.

Yesterday, I learnt about the Nsibidi keyboard he developed, which can be downloaded online:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2ASYdxiKOM

Even though I don't know him personally, I admire his great intelligence, creativity, and courage embarking on such a laudable project, which he personally funds.

I'm almost certainly sure Yorubas also had their own indigenous writing system, as claimed by Otem some years ago.

If I was in the field of Linguistics or delved into it in the future, I could develop a native writing system for the Yorubas, with characters based on the Odu Ifa literary corpus, and not the Latin characters currently in use in Yoruba language.

It's not good for a people to rely on everything made by foreign peoples and not to come up with their own native (home-grown) systems.

The kind of reception Prince harry and co are getting in Nigeria despite not being working royals just seem somehow to me, a treatment they can’t even get in their home country(UK) right now. If Prince williams or the king himself visit Nigeria, that means the whole country will just be shut down for him oh.

Just curious why Nigerians like worshipping foreigners.
