Re: Arabic Oasis on Nairaland by NegroNtns(m): 7:53pm On Jul 24, 2011
Araboy,
I know the alphabets and the vowels like tha back of my hand. In fact I sometimes use arabic to express thoughts in english. I'm on phone and can't use the characters but for instance to say "how are you" in english I write the ajjami using

How - Ha with Wow, fatha punctuation on Ha, silent on Wow (HAW).

Are - Alif with Ra, silent on both (AR).
You - Ya with a damma punctuation (YU).

I can use the characters to communicate in Yoruba. What I "need" to learn is the arabic tongue.

To learn Arabic you have to put some effort and persevere like learning any other language
The aim of this thread is primarily to help those who are interested in learning and speaking this language
to get familiar with the alphabet and some basic vocabulary used in every day conversation
