qtguru:I wasn't wrong tho was I? If twitter stuck with their 2007 design would anyone be using it today? Why do you think nairaland members are reducing daily... Right now you can check, not up to 10k people both members and guests have logged in in the last five minutes, this website would have been dead like MySpace if Nigerian Devs had more funds Smh I think we should all move on to afri coders maybe Seun would then wake up and update this site 1 Like

Think4Myself: "People like you will never grow in life" because of Nairaland's preference ?? the excuse is even silly, that is rude to tell another person just because he prefers a platform design. that is crass behaviour. 1 Like |

qtguru:Ok, you're right. It was kind of wrong but I was still on to something, if that dude built twitter and stuck to it's 2007 look he'd have gone broke like 3 years later |

The people who matter on this website are Business, Politics, Career, Jobs and Travel sections. They aren't complaining. No matter the opinion of anyone in programming section, It is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. People come to NL because of the information they derive. If you want a new forum, go and create one for yourself. 1 Like 1 Share |

Think4Myself: I agree! So it's up to those who see the opportunities that Seun is loosing to make a business case for an alternative. There was a time that Union Bank, First Bank and UBA were banking colossus in this country. They were highly inefficient and cared less about how their customers felt. The likes of Zenith Bank and GTBank saw a gap, mobilised investors and took over the market. They didn't moan and complain about how inefficient the old generation banks were. I agree that NL needs a massive revamp. But Seun is NOT INTERESTED in all of those. Loads of open source Forum software abound that meet most of the UI needs that people desire from NL. Why don't those complaining make a business case for using any of those solutions and outline how they plan to take market share of NL. A few years back, I considered setting up a forum for Nigeria healthcare practitioners. Solution was available. But I had absolutely NO IDEA how to drag the market with NL. I abandoned the idea because it would have struggled to survive. I agree that NL needs a complete makeover. But I'm not going to moan if they choose not to. I can either float a rival and methodical push it. Or I stick with what NL has to offer. If there are a group of folks interested in floating some other forum with a solid business plan, count me in to put my money where my mouth is 3 Likes 1 Share |

BlaqFaze: I love reddit and NL for very different reasons. On reddit, I have some control over what I see and engage with. My home page only shows subreddit I follow. I rarely ever visit the News or Popular sections. The same tribalism you complain about is also tenable on reddit. You just aren't on those subreddits to see them. And they "tribalism" there on reddit is very American which you most likely will it relate with. I like NL because it keeps me in touch with a lot of Nigerian happenings. I only visit the homepage and the programming sub forum. Homepage is very toxic but I try to ignore that. Programming section keeps me in touch with fellow geek heads resident in Naija. And from time to time you get a few monikers there that drive a lot of the conversations there. NL is not the most ideal but I'm not going to scream myself hoarse that the owners should change it to suit me. There are people living in areas with very negligible Internet speeds. NL in this it's "ugly" form will still load on their phones despite the appalling speeds. Today's websites are a terrible potpourri of Javascript nonsense that overload the websites. NL is pure, naked, light-weight 5 Likes |

Think4Myself: So that would require considerable extra costs and infrastructure because a handful of people want a fancy UI. Doesn't make economic sense to do that |
