Sensible comment so far.

Bro, is like you've worked or working in a supermarket.

Calm down guys.

This is what happened, the original item on that shelf ran out of stock.

They had to put the bread to cover the space but forgot to remove the price tag.

A bread of 7,500 in a supermarket

See below
I produce bread here. what i produce is better than this and I still sell for 1000, as a bread producer here in Phc. I think this bread is over prized and it doesn't worth this amount at all. This bread does not have up to 3kg of fat to 50kg of flour.

Wrong.

That's the actual price. 7500 is less than 15 USD. Not a bad price for that size of premium bread. If you go to some gourmet restaurants in Lagos, you will pay 1500 for a few pieces of starter bread and butter.

Do you know what actual cost and real cost is? I repeat I know Brioche bread, how to do costing. I produce more than 23 types of bread and still counting. I do healthy bread specifically for high end customers, the highest I charged them is 3500, for materials and labor per loaf. Oga this bread is too expensive.

Prosecuted for what offence?

As long as customs duty was paid, there is no law against importing goods.

There are wrist watches of 100 million sold by Polo Avenue in Lagos. Those who can afford them buy them, those who can only buy 4500 wristwatch from the aboki hawkers will buy theirs as well.

Different prices and different products for different people. If you can't afford to pay 7500, buy what you can afford. There are people who can only afford age bread and think of those buying sliced bread as wasters of money.

Do you "produce" your bread with butter or margarine? cheesy

A bar of 200g butter is worth over 2k. Not that it justifies the exorbitant price of that bread though.
After all, it's just bread.

It is not.

You speak as a local baker.

Produce yours and sell so you know it's not.

You do realize you have to include the cost of the shop, customs duty (because it's imported), materials cost, branding cost etc to arrive at the final cost. You are comparing it with a workman job that you did.

If you put this bread on the shelves of SPAR Yaba, nobody will buy. So it has to be in a shop with a clientele that can afford it. That means higher rent for the shop owners to pay. All that must be factored into the price of the products.

Even the materials cost are higher than what you think. They don't use the butter you buy from the market sir and they are certainly not using evaporated milk that you are used to. I suggest you research more on this.

That bread is meant for the thieves in this country.

its because of expenses like this that makes them steal without conscience

if you sweat to make profit or give service u wont buy a loaf of bread for 7500.

though some people who genuinely make money can but they are very few.

Even if one is super rich, spending that much on a loaf of bread, to me, is extravagant.

Even if u ask a local professional baker to make you a quality bread as such, I don’t think you would pay half the price of that ‘very lucrative’ loaf.

For me, bread is not really something I fancy; so, I’m okay with the local, quality ones I eat. All the best to the seller(s) & the buyers of Brioche bread.

Its obvious that you are not a baker and doesn't know anything about bread production and retail. You referred to me as a local baker, yea agreed. But I produce one of the best bread here in porthacourt for high end customer's. Foreigners here prefer my bread to the others too.
As for your questions on if I use evaporated milk or margarine, the answer is yes. I have people that supplies raw materials from UK, China and Germany to me. This bread is still very expensive please. Food cost should not be above 40% but sincerely at this amount it will be around 20%. If you make 80% of your profit in any business, sir you are a thief.

Yet someone that has not been to UK before,or knows how to produce bread, is telling me a baker, that the price of margarine in UK is very expensive, hence the reason for the high price.
