What is the Gospel?

Romans 1:16
[16]For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

There can be no salvation outside the gospel of Christ. The scripture says it is the power of God unto salvation. This means that the ability of God to save is in the gospel only.

The term gospel is an old English word for good news. The good news that saves a man is non other than the good news concerning the person of Christ. It is the preaching of Christ and His work and not the preaching of man's deeds.

It is not the preaching of hell that saves

It is not the preaching of prosperity that saves

It is not the preaching of deliverance from family altar, demon oppression, curses, etc, that saves

It is not the preaching of motivation that saves.

What saves is the preaching of the gospel of Christ.

What's this gospel?

1 Corinthians 15:1-4
[1]Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
[2]By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
[3]For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
[4]And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Paul stated the gospel which he preached to be Christ death, burial, and resurrection. That's the gospel!

It is simply the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus; the sacrifice that brought redemption to man.

It's in this message we have salvation.

Please note that any message that doesn't carry these facts cannot save no matter how nice, true or powerful it sounds.

Anyone who cries out on the altar confessing and asking for forgiveness is not save except what he hears is the gospel.

When you hear the gospel, you don't need tears, you need faith. You don't cry to get saved, you simply believe to get saved.

The gospel is the message of God's grace; it demonstrates the love of God, his actions through Christ Jesus to us. In His love, He laid our sin on Jesus and laid the righteousness of Jesus on us. In His love when we were sinners, Christ died our death (Romans 5vs8) That's grace and that's what saves us (Ephesians 2vs8)

When this news is announced to the sinner and he gladly receives it by believing, he becomes saved.

Outside FAITH IN THE GOSPEL, there is no other requirements for SALVATION.

The gospel of Christ may sound weak or foolish but that's where the power to save man lies.

Some may try to rebrand it. But note that any addition or subtraction to it, makes it something different from what it is. The gospel is complete and balance. It doesn't need any balancing. It is not the wisdom of men. It's simply the preaching of the cross.
