Acknowledging Your Salvation 1
We've considered the gospel and who gets saved, lets now move to what happens next after salvation.
In 1 Timothy 2:4
[4]Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
We see that God's will for men is in two folds

a) for them to be saved
b) for them to come to the knowledge of the truth.

This is very important to note. Peter taught the newbies saying
1 Peter 2:2
[2]As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

One who has been saved needs to diligently give himself/herself to the study and learning of the word so as to grow.

Paul prayed for the church at Ephesus

Ephesians 1:17-20
[17]That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
[18]The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
[19]And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
[20]Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places

He prayed for them to have the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation in the Knowledge of Christ. He also prayed for the eyes of their understanding to be enlightened.

Peter also instructed the brethren to grow in knowledge

2 Peter 3:18
[18]But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Knowledge of what? Not the knowledge of Devils, Satan, generational curses and family altars; not the knowledge of wealth and financial principle. All these don't bring spiritual growth. The knowledge here is the perfect and precise knowledge of Christ, the truth. The right knowledge of Christ brings you to the point of assurance where salvation is concern.

Know that maturity and growth in Christianity doesn't come by prayer and fasting, but by the accurate knowledge of The Word (1Pet 2:2). A prayerful life is only a mark of maturity.

So we see that Christianity is all about knowledge. Peter said in
2 Peter 1:2
[2]Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.

Therefore, a believer is a student of The Word. God doesn't expect His children to live in ignorance. If you live in ignorance, that's your choice.

Paul admonished Timothy this way

1 Timothy 4:13
[13]Till I come, give attendance to READING, to exhortation, to doctrine.

He said to him in
2 Timothy 3:15
[15]And that from a CHILD thou hast KNOWN the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

So, being a child is no excuse for ignorance. You ought to know the scriptures from childhood. The scriptures have the ability to make you wise unto SALVATION ie, they bring you to a PERFECT AND PRECISE KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR SALVATION IN CHRIST.

Many people are not assured of their salvation because they don't know what it really means to be saved.
