Acknowledging Your Salvation 2
(Eph 4:11-16)

In the last lesson, we saw that the primary will of God for all men is in two folds
- to be saved
- to come to the knowledge of the truth (1Tim 2:4).

How does one come to the knowledge of the Truth?
They come to the knowledge of the truth about Christ and their salvation in Christ via teaching.

Jesus instructed His disciples in Matthew 28:19-20
[19]Go ye therefore, and TEACH all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
[20]TEACHING them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Observe the stress on teach and teaching. It goes to tell us how important it is. Also, it tells us that this process is a continuous process. Doctrine is passed down through the teaching of God's word.

In our text Ephesians 4:11-13
[11]And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
[12]For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
[13]Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

We see that the ministry gifts Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers were given for the perfecting of the saints, so they can do the work of the ministry.

The word "perfecting" means to train or equip.

This training comes by the teaching of the word.

So, God has placed men to teach and equip believers with the knowledge of the truth.

Paul said to Timothy in
2 Timothy 1:13
[13]Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard OF ME, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

So, there must be someone whom you submit to and learn from. By his/her teachings, you grow in knowledge.

This means you must be very careful and selective about who you lend your ears to. Not everybody ought to teach you.

The way you study your bible and your views of scriptures is greatly influenced by what you have been taught overtime. Wrong teaching leads to a faulty knowledge, a wrong approach to bible study, wrong believes and wrong practices or act of worship.

Paul told Timothy
2 Timothy 2:2
[2]And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

So, we are taught to teach others. That is why we said earlier that TEACHING is continuous. Note, we teach the same things we were taught.

Therefore, believers grow in knowledge as they are TAUGHT and they TEACH others also.
