Please I am in need of advice desperately. I recently resigned from my previous Job, just after receiving my salary. My boss was mean and toxic to me, to the extent that immediately I received my salary I left. I have sent my resignation letter.
I left for another opportunity in another state.
Now, the problem is that the job I left for is not as it turned out to be. I have regretted the move ever since.
Would it be okay if I called my boss and beg for another opportunity to come back?
Why was your boss mean and toxic to you , how do you intend to handle it if employed again and have they found replacement for you , if yes do you think they will retrench the person for you , and if no why have they not find another person?

You can go back. Only if you can address two things.

1. You need to swallow your pride and tell him the truth. Tell him how much you appreciate your job and how much you wish for the company to grow. But you value your peace of mind more than the money that’s why you left . And now that you got a new job , you life style is too used to his company and you couldn’t adapt with to the world outside.

2. You need to tell him you are sorry about the resignation letter and you would wish to come back. You promise to stick to him for a longer stay while building the company bigger. You need to state example of Steve balmer who has worked himself to the level of a manager in Microsoft to become a billionaire because of his long term active service with Microsoft. This is your dream for his company but you also wish for rest of mind, don’t be afraid to politely state the things he use to do that you don’t like. You need to convince him of a longer stay and how much you wish for the growth of the company.

Makes sure it’s a short letter with deep meaningful word on every sentence. Make sure you swallow your pride. And make sure you work truely with your heart to build the company if given opportunity again.

If you're a Christian, I encourage you to seek God's face. Maybe God wants you to face the hard times in your new place of work before enjoying the huge benefits.

Please, don't be too quick to conclude and never you think of going back to your previous vomit (job).

I am optimistic that God has a better plan for you. Remember, tough times never last but tough people do.

I am writing this piece from experience!

I was once in your shoes before. I went back and my boss requested for an apology letter and letter of reinstatement. He accepted me back but the treatment was on another level. Like God will have it, few seconds after I emailed the apology letter and letter of reinstatement, I received a call to come for documentation. Omo the rest is history. But the good thing is that I kept a clean sheets and still in good terms with my ex boss.

stay where u are.money is not everything, it is better than being treated like a social leper.

Why did you just jumped into conclusion about money being a problem in this scenario?
The guy is saying not as he presumed the job turned out to be,which is why you scan very well before you leap!
There are dozens of reasons why job expectations may not be our to the needs desires:
- lack of work progression in the new workplace.
- lack of future opportunities.
- heavy work/ job schedule on the present jobs that far outweighs the last jobs .
- bleak future - as concerning training and development in Career wise.
So we need to ask the guy- what is the cause of feeling dejected in his new place, before we talk of money or wages!

Resigning without knowing nwhat u are going to meet in the next place is not a wise idea! I doubt if ur boss will take u back but if he does believe me be ready for double what he did to u previously!
Not a wise deal cool you say but when your mental health is at stake here, you'll eventually run!. In the OP's case he had a job already when he resigned. I worked with my boss and after 6months I was already frustrated. People kept telling me to move but I didn't cause he was actually good. I stayed on the job while the toxicity continued to increase; during this period I kept on building my knowledge, experience and certifications in the same field. At exactly 2years, I resigned and I was yet to secure another job. Four months later I got another after series of interviews. Two months after I resumed, a company I had interviewed at called to offer me another job but I declined. So it depends you know. May God help us all.

Once you said goodbye, never go back again. Always think well before you say goodbye.

Your case is not exactly the same with the op's case! Why did u not leave when people told u to? Becos ur focus was the future not the present. You looked beyond the present, i have been in such situation b4, in my case i had to even leave Lagos to go and work in Calabar for a toxic boss but my focus was d future by the time i left, i had two separate companies waiting for me to resume so I had to now make a strategic choice! I still maintain that he was not supposed to resign in a hurry. He shud have taken a holiday to go and see where he was going!

Not in all cases you know. You're still talking about an ideal organisation with the HOLIDAY you mentioned. Some organisations don't allow it .
