The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reacted to a throwback video of his running mate, Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, calling for the killing of LGBTQ members.

Baba-Ahmed was a Senator when the anti-gay bill was being considered in the Nigerian Senate. While making his own contribution during plenary in 2014, Baba-Ahmed opined that such ''elements'' should be killed in the society.

''Actually such elements in the society should be killed'' he said

Shortly after he was announced as Peter Obi's running mate, Nigerians dug up the video of Baba-Ahmed calling for the elimination of gays.


In a recent interview with a radio station, Peter Obi was asked to react to his running mate's comment which some people found distasteful. He said;

'' 2014 to today is about eight years. But that not withstanding, we all have made comments that we believe in and it is allowed. I for one is tolerant of people's views and their lifestyle. This is me. As long as it doesn't affect my interest. For me, we jave more critical issues to deal with Today and that is what I will be concentrating on''

An elaborate response, we have more serious issues to worry about than gay and that was his view but for PO, as long as it does not affect his interest, it's all about tolerance.

Are these the clowns that will rescue Nigeria?
Are these the cold blooded leaders we would have who only look out for their own interests?
So he will be tolerant of corruption and terrorism and banditry which is the lifestyle of some people, "as long as it doesn't affect my interest"?

It means we should not expect an Obi presidency to prosecute rioters who murder, or eliminate bandits who kidnap, or challenge religious extremists like his running mate who think they own the lives of others who are not like him and can take lives as they like without remorse or fear of prosecution.

I now see why Peter Obi never spoke out about the Christian girl Deborah in Sokoto who was killed by her school mates and those who reason like Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed. I also now see why he did not react on the below mentioned by Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa. I reckon it does not affect his own selfish interest.

Even if you do not support the rights of Gays/Lesbians, if given the match stick like this extremist below, would you light it up to kill them for being who they are that does not hurt you or threaten your own life?

Peter Obi refused to defend the fundamental right to life.

Yet he wants to be President and chief security officer of Nigeria, with a deputy that has no regard for human life and willing to support a genocide to eliminate those who are not like him, and all Obi can say is "it is allowed" as long as such is believed in?
