What makes a good boss?
It's easy to talk about what makes a bad boss, but how do you know when you've got a good one?

I was out with a colleague recently and somebody asked her if I was a good boss?

She said yes if you were wandering ( I was stood right next to her which may or may not have influenced her response slightly ). But regardless, it got me asking myself. What makes a good boss?

I think a good boss is nosy! A good boss doesn’t just mind their own business.

As a boss, it is easy to get caught up in responsibilities and the goals of the company and miss details regarding the personal circumstances of employees and staff. I think it is important to be very mindful of employees' personal situations and goals and try to align with them accordingly. A boss should have clear personal boundaries within work environments, yet be very mindful of their employees personal situations and goals. And… very open with the situation and goals of the company.

(Just read this back and I hate the word boss, it sounds like something you face after completing all the levels in a retro video game! I’m more comfortable being a “work colleague”)

What do you think makes a good leader/manager/boss?

So I sadly said goodbye to my big boss today. I won’t names, but officially now the top 3 of best bosses ever to work for (they are all joint top!). What they’ve all had in common is their leadership and empowerment of the team to get on and deliver, and trust people, whilst remaining a team player.

Good manners, kindness and supportiveness makes for a good leadership style, it’s helped me to fly and I’m forever grateful!

They say we have the power to choose our bosses, but the reality is that that power comes once we know what we want in career. When we are truly authentic with ourselves.

When it comes to bosses, I am lucky to have the best. He inspires growth. Constantly encouraging one to reach out for their greatest potential. Part of who I am today, is because of his constant pushing. We all need people like him in our lives. God bless you Sylvester Oluoch!

I remember telling a friend at the beginning of 2022 that before April, I will have boarded a flight and not fly within Kenya but beyond. You see that thing they say about speaking things into existence? It is real. I was confident about it because I already had a passport. If you desire to own a car, start by getting a driving license. Actualizing faith right?

March 2nd my boss asked me to check out return tickets for Kampala. There is this great man in Kampala he wanted me to go and interview. I have never been so excited. My producer and I worked on the travel logistics and we were set!
