https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RZhVrF91TE Wish their was a history tab but here it is a well made documentary of the civil war, that involves the details frequently glossed over in other documentaries, the key feature is troop positions/movements and an analysis of their aims. 2 Likes 1 Share |

The people fighting over the title are accomplishing what now? Its a documentary on a civil war that cost the lives of millions, a very indepth documentary, better then the usual ones that barely cover military actions |

Unprovoked mischievous self-inflicted stupid intra-war, warmonger Ojukwu sacrificed Igbos to his blood sucking gods through hunger melted on igbos, he rejected foreign aids that was meant for the people |

omowolewa: Some points to help your education 1) It was not a "civil war". It was a war between TWO SOVEREIGN NATIONS; Nigeria and Biafra. Every internationally recognized historical account of the war, regards it this way... 2) It lasted for 30 months and culminated into the killing of close to 5 million people from a population of 15 million people or thereabout in eastern Nigeria.. 3) It was no cakewalk for The Nigerian forces, since both the arming, the fighting and the embargoes, were all done by foreign forces. Infact the embargo by The British Navy actually led to the deaths of over ten thousand babies deu to starvation, EVERYDAY.. 4) Finally, it is on record that this was the first "black on black" genocide in modern Africa. It was really the first time that Africans actually went as far as inviting the white man to come back and take over the country and help them kill off their socalled "fellow Africans" out of hatred.. Nigeria is now a basket case because of this and that's why other African states followed suit with all sorts of tribal wars. Essentially, without the Biafran genocide, we might not have seen the wars in Liberia and Sierra Leone, 4 Likes |

DOTian: 2. Hmm the number been revised up again? Most accounts have it 2 million death most due to starvation at most. Do you care to cite your source on the 5 million casualties. 3. The British Navy didn't lead the blockade. I've seen no historical source outside nairaland claim such. The Nigerian Navy enforced the blockade and lead the amphibious assaults. Ojukwu refused to allow a land corridor because he feared the Nigerian government would poison the population. His actions thus exacerbated the problem. Gowon would not have poison them due to international pressure. Ojukwu opted for air lifted material from Sao Tome with Portuguese support. The supplies came to Portharcourt then Uli village in Owerri. The Nigerian airforce was never able to stop opperations from the Uli airstrip due their ineffectiveness.
