The Ijaw Youth Council IYC has launched a regional security outfit known as Niger Delta Region Special Defense. President of IYC Peter Igbifi during the inauguration of the Zone One of the Niger Delta Region Special Defense tasked the commanding officers to ensure protection of facilities and people of the region. He said the Niger Delta Region Special Defense will work with other security agencies to ensure the waterways are safe in the region. President of Ijaw Youth Council IYC Peter Igbifa also called on all states houses of assembly in the Niger Delta region to enact laws that will back-up the regional security out.
