Hi Nairalanders, Please Advice Me.i Want To Defer My Program For Programming. by Hismercy20: 1:11pm On Jul 22, 2022
I am a guy 26 years old. I came from a broken home and since age 19, I have been singlehandedly taking care of myself .it was a tough journey but all glory to my maker. I hold an OND accounting and am currently a sophomore student at the University of Lagos. I have a legit online business that's giving me at least 150k monthly and I have been doing this for the past 2years l. I also plan to settle down in 2year's time. All glory to Jesus.

So back to the main topic, I recently got accepted into the Microverse software development full-Time program and lectures take place from 8 am -5:15 pm so I have been thinking that if we resume anytime soon, I may not be able to concentrate on my studies.

Should I defer my program for this? Because I don’t want to graduate with nothing less than 2:1.By the way, the microverse program will last for 10months.Please advice.

I was in the same situation like you. I wanted to enroll for ALX one year scholarship programme a few weeks ago but when I noticed that I have to dedicate over 10 hours to it everyday, I backed out. I am in my penultimate year in the university and even if I can cope with the programme now that universities are on strike, I can't cope when school eventually resumes. I need to graduate from the university first before I can think about enrolling for ALX. For now I am learning programming from Harvard university and it doesn't require much time as ALX, and it's a 3 months programme but I have from now till December to complete it. You can figure out what you want to do from all I have said, it all depends on your priority

@Hismercy20

My personal advice is to defer your admission and continue with Microverse software development full-Time program. A Bachelors Degree can be gotten anytime you are ready again, surviving in Nigeria is very important. Do what you must do to increase your income. Dollar rates have increased exponentially, soon that 150k will not be enough. My advice for every Nigerian, whether in Tech, Accounting, HR or any career is to find foreign companies and earn in dollars. With Atiku or Tinubu been favourites to win this coming election, the economy is going to be in shambles in the next 8 years.
