Its logical and very real in Kenya(and other counties in E. & Southern Africa) and I thank God for that. This animals are the greatest inheritance that we collectively received for our ancestors. In Kenya, conviction in court for possession of bushmeat and killing of wildlife could get you a sentence of upto 10-20 years behind bars.

A few years back, legislators in the Kenyan parliament were even proposing the toughest law in the world, against poaching. Death sentence for those convicted for poaching with intention to acquire trophies(not bush meat) like ivory, hides, teeth etc.
For example, this guys got 16 years each for killing wildlife.

I have nothing against your laws on poaching. But unless critically endangered or endangered, bushmeat shouldn't be something anyone should go to prison for. If you don't kill them, they will multiply and might cause some threats. So culling or legalized killing of bushmeat is not bad

The Chimp and other species I see being displayed here as meat are endangered and going extinct my brother. Its very hard to rewind that cycle of extinction, I can tell you that from experience. Culling is done even in Kenya, seasonally but very rarely. By the authorities not individuals or 'hunters'(we don't have these in Kenya btw) and those who wish get to enjoy specific bush meat from specific KWS approved joints. This is after years of serious conservation and hard work. I don't get this kind of free for all 'culling' happening in Nigeria.
