The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has ruled out the chances of further extension of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

Chief Ken Okeagu, the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States, said this at a news briefing in Abakaliki on Wednesday, July 27.

Okeagu, who was on a one-day monitoring visit to Ebonyi, said his assignment was to appraise the exercise in the state.

He said that he had visited the commission’s Local Government Area Offices to assess the progress so far made in the exercise.

He expressed satisfaction with the turnout of prospective registrants.

Okeagu commended INEC in Ebonyi for the arrangements put in place to ensure smooth exercise in the state.

He said that the commission would consider the deployment of additional voter enrollment machines to address the surge at the registration centres.

He, however, dismissed the possibility of further extension of the exercise, which is billed to end on July 31.

“I’m quite impressed. The arrangement is good and people are turning out.

“So far, we don’t have challenges other than the number of people that have been coming out to register.

“I have gone round some of the centres and we are discussing how to take care of the surge.

“Some of the arrangements are going to be internal and we are looking basically at getting more machines to attend to people.

They know that majority of those getting PVCs will vote against INEC godfathers.

What stopped them from getting registered earlier? If you register and you don't get the PVC, is not useless?
They were not voting before because the previous candidates are not as credible as Obi. Now that someone as credible as Obi is contesting, they want to get PVCs and vote. They started going for PVCs the moment Obi surfaced. But the corrupt INEC is using delay tactics against them. And for those that succeeded in registering for PVC, their PVCs are either buried in the ground or thrown into a bush. The next strategy now is to give prisoners PVCs so the prisoners will in the name of voting help the rigging. Are you not aware of all these things?

A lot of people will be disenfranchised if the registration process is not extended.
Inec will take the blamed for failing to provide adequate tools to facilitate the registration process but then the registration exercise did not just start last month.

In a sane country where ur PVC is the only tool u have to change a government, Y can't it be made easy to have by eligible citizens just like ur regular ATM CARD. Govt keep on frustrating and sabotaging the process, especially when they know that it will not favour them. Useless and clueless govt of no vision.

Inec is the most useless government agency.
I went to get my pvc yesterday, got there past 8 and there were over 300 people who came to register with only 2 machines.
The officials in question came some minutes past 10.
I don't know if it's a deliberate attempt to discourage people from voting.
Pvc to me is very useless,why can't we use our nin to vote?

Pls u are not meant to pay any money, pls report anyone who has you money to security personnel around you PVC is free of charge

Inec are not helping at any point, because I was at INEC office at Ikeja around 5am in the morning,why my no is 80. It took the whole of my day,before they attended to me. D stress is too much,very very slow ,even the number of computer systems is not up to 5. Many peoples where unable to register because of bad network,no sufficient hands and no sufficient computers system
