Fayemi appoints opposition into boards


Names of opposition party members featured in the list of reconstituted board members announced by Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi at the weekend. They included presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Mega Party (SDMP), Prof. Pat Utomi and Alliance for Democracy (AD) governorship candidate in the state Mr. Biola Olaseinde.

This is as Governor Fayemi yesterday enjoined Moslems to use the period of this year’s Ramadan fasting which began yesterday to preach against racial and religious discrimination and other forms of violence.

He said the lessons from the yearly Ramadan fasting included need for discipline, respect for constituted authorities, tolerance, honesty, sincerity of purpose and peaceful coexistence. Membership of the newly constituted boards which cut across Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) leaders and technocrats includes former Acting Governor Friday Aderemi, Dr Bayo Orire, Prince Akin Olayisade, Mr Babatunde Odetola and Mrs Ronke Okusanya. Utomi is to serve on the Governing Council of the Ekiti State University, formerly University of Ado Ekiti, Ado Ekiti, which has former governor of old Ondo State Evangelist Bamidele Olumilua as Chancellor and the Vice Chancellor of Redeemed University, Prof. Jide Osuntokun as Pro-Chancellor and chairman. he newly constituted board of parastatals and agencies in the state, which are to be inaugurated today are Ekiti State Hospital Management Board; Urban Renewal Agency; Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti; College of Education, Ikere- Ekiti; College of Health Technology, Ijero- Ekiti; and Public Works Corporation.
