If I should ask 1000 Nigerian Business Owners today, "What are your current challenges with your business?

about 60% will say, I don't make enough sales..

Nigerians think sales is their problem??

well it's not..

Find out what it is.

First I want you to bear this in mind.

Sales Is the end product of a successful marketing.

Sales is the "thank you" you receive for a job well done. So if you are not getting enough sales, you're not doing enough good job.

What is the Job??

The Job is Marketing!

that is the job you're failing at..

Marketing Entails a lot but I'll try to show you a few things in this thread.

1st, Marketing begins before you decide on what to sell..
It begins before you decide on what to produce..

I was watching this programme on LIONS DEN when I saw this guy that came to pitch a toilet finding app to the investors..

Yes you heard me right!

A Nigerian Entrepreneur had taken time to create an app that would help people in Lagos to locate the nearest public toilet so they will stop messing up the environment..

It was a smart Idea but guess what?

Non of the Investors invested a Kobo..

They lent him advice though, I hope he takes them seriously!

Before he started building the app, he probably have thought to himself,

"This will make the lives of Nigerians Easier, at least the environment will be safer and Lagos will at last be the ideal state Nigerian Movies paint it to look like"

Good man I must say, but the market does not care about your good intentions..

You have to listen to what the people are already crying out for..

One of the investors asked him a question like,

"How do you ensure the toilets are kept neat for people to enjoy using them"?

Man was mute..

They told him Lagos wasn't ready for that app yet which is 100% correct..

If he had done a simple market research, he would have realised that people will only start paying attention to looking out for public toilets when the government has made it mandatory by enforcing agencies around for this purpose and also making sure the public toilets are very safe and healthy for use..

Which is currently unattainable.

The best thing you can do for yourself is market research!

it saves you the frustration of thinking you have created something useless, It makes you feel you are not doing enough.

Sad..

In all things..
Research your market, know what people around you want most..

don't go and start selling clothes because your friends are making money doing it..
no be their customers go buy from you..

A word is enough for the wise.
