Insecurity: We Never Had It This Bad In The History Of Nigeria – Sanusi by ExAngel007(f): 12:32pm On Aug 05, 2022
The 14th Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, on Thursday, in Lagos, lamented the worsening insecurity in the country.

He said nothing seems to work again in the country, citing various social issues to buttress his view.

He said the level of poverty and hunger in the land is daily increasing and so also the level of insecurity, corruption, rate of inflation, youth unemployment, gender imbalance, poor electricity, poor foreign exchange rate, corruption and so forth.

He said the worst thing is that the level where Nigeria was in 2015 when people were crying foul about the state of the country’s socio-political economy, insecurity, inflation and so forth was far better than what the situation were at the moment.

Sanusi gave this remark at the 7th colloquium of Akinjide Adeosun Foundation (AFF) to mark the 54th birthday of the founder of the foundation and CEO of St. Rachael’s Pharmaceuticals Nigeria, Mr Akinjide Adeosun.

He was the guest of honour at the event, which also has Mr Jimi Agbaje, a pharmacist cum politician; the Secretary to the Oyo State Government and wife of the celebrator, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun; as well as a keynote speaker, Prof Ayodele Olurotimi and the Managing Director of Megamound Investment Ltd, Mr Olumide Osunsina, among other dignitaries, in attendance.

Speaking further and on the theme of the programme, “Are leaders scarce in Nigeria,” Sanusi blamed Nigeria’s situation mostly on leaders in political governance, saying many of them lack a clear vision that can effectively move the country forward appreciably.

He said that was why rather than for things to get better after successive administration comes to the stage of governance things get worse.

According to him, we thought we were in a deep hole in 2015 but between 2015 and now; we have been digging ourselves into a deeper hole.

He said it was unheard of that Nigeria could not take the advantage of the Russian-Ukraine War to better its economy just as all other oil-producing countries globally do at the moment.

According to him, Nigeria is the only oil-producing country that is grieving at this time as every other oil-producing country is celebrating and smiling to the banks due to the price of oil that has gone up appreciably because of the Russian-Ukraine War.

He said it was more disturbing that the country’s revenue is not enough to service the debts let alone meet peoples’ needs.

Good morning dear colleagues.

These are increasingly tense and difficult times for all Nigerians regardless of their ethnicity, religion or creed.

Nigeria being an integrated member of the international community, has not been immune or spared from the downward spiral of the economic fortunes of even the most advanced nations as a direct consequence of the ongoing Russia/Ukraine conflict.

Things are really hard for millions of Nigerians struggling to survive.

The unprecedented inflationary trend across the world has not spared Nigerians either. It has driven goods and services beyond the reach of ordinary Nigerians.

Nerves are on edge, compounded by rampant insecurity across the land.

Human life has become unbelievably cheap.

The socially environment is now also fully combustible.

And to make matters worse, we are fast approaching another election year with all its inherent perils.

Politicians are on the prowl, along with their often garrulous supporters eager to feed and take maximum advantage of the deepening frustration in the land by any means necessary.

This is when the nation requires all men of good conscience, to raise up in its defence, by doing all they can to arrest our gradual decent into a Hobbesian state of anarchy.

We must avoid sleepwalking onto the bloodied roads to Rwanda, with stops in Sierra Leone and Liberia.

There's so much bile and propaganda in the air, often with scant regard for facts and accuracy of the content crudely distilled as the truth.

There's an overwhelming tendency among even the most informed Nigerians to act, or be influenced by the falsehood they are regularly fed through the social media.

The tragedy is that most tend to internalise the divisive propaganda for as long as it feeds or appeals to their inner prejudices.

As educated people, we have the compelling responsibility to make a telling difference by exhibiting maximum restraint, and diligence, in the manner we digest or share viral content intended to cause more harm than good.

Sadly, in a tragedy of monumental proportions, even in these difficult times, some elders cannot resist the temptation to act on impulse on matters of vital security concerns to our dear nation.

And they have become a danger to us all because Nigerians are incredibly gullible by nature.

As responsible citizens, the least we can do is to subject all unverified information and content forwarded to us to thorough fact-checks in the interest of peace and harmony.

We must guard against the temptation to nourish our inner demons in the manner we react to slander, falsehood and abuse in the social media space by exercising maximum responsibility for the common good.

It's the least we can do to create a fully functional nation of our dreams.

Good day my country people

Why are you so bitter and hateful for a woman? Have you never wasted money unwisely? Have you never supported someone wrongly? Have you never taken sides only to regret it?

Why , as an adult who has lived life, do you remain filled with so much judgemental hate for others?

Did Tinubu 'bring' Buhari to cause insecurity and give criminals from all across Africa free reign to kill, rape and intimate Nigerians?

It is politics. Tinubu worked for Buhari's win as he must do as an APC leader. He did not then direct the independent actions and inactions of Buhari that failed Nigerians.

Judge Tinubu on his own direct actions as a leader. When Lagos had security challenges Tinubu created and funded RRS. He did not look away to then abandon Lagosians to their fate. He did not allow Lagosians continue to die cheaply. He arrested criminality quickly with responsive leadership.

Try and have some sense na. Women are relied on to be norturers in society. Not bitter souls.

The power is in your hands, if you want to continue suffering in Nigeria vote Peter Obi.

If you want boost in our economy and Security, vote Tinubu.

Tinubu is the only Messiah we have to make things right again for us all in Nigeria.

Vote Tinubu wisely

Forget Peter Obi he's a nosie maker and that's where it all ends .

Tinubu 2023 all the Way for economic growth, peace and harmony shocked

You can say what you want. What is obvious, even from ordinary traffic incidences, is that Nigerians have the worst blame culture in the world with everyone looking for others to blame while proclaiming themselves innocent and virtuous.

Elections are not war. People supported and voted for Buhari, including myself, in the belief he will perform and move Nigeria forward.

How can you then blame us, as if we committed a crime, based on the misrule of Buhari no one had a crystal ball to predict?

If not that most of you Nigerians are cowards and bullies, why not go on strike and March relentlessly for Buhari to go rather than be looking for those to lynch because they "sold" Buhari to you as if you're a child incapable of making sound and independent judgement.

You attack Sanusi, Tinubu etal but you cowards cannot lay siege on the legislators at the National assembly, the people with the real power to remove Buhari, instead your anger is always directed at those out of Government and with no power to influence anything.

Talk about a misguided nation full of misguided fools who only know to lament impotently rather than confront their real oppressors.

Face the national assembly and get Buhari removed today if that is what you really want. Abi you are blind to events in Sri Lanka of late?

Go and face Lawan, the real 'gatekeeper' of Buhari, instead of attacking the likes of Sanusi who can only be accused of wrong judgement call over 7 years ago that we have all had time to change if brave and determined enough to do so.
