How was my fasting?

It was very bad. I almost died of hunger. I had one big ass bowl of pounded yam with ogbono soup, mixed meat(ogunfe, saki, edo, and so many others I couldn't name), and 3 gulders around 5:00AM in the morning. Then I broke my fasting with Rice, stew, about 20 sliced plantains(not 15 whole plaintains, but sliced), 4 eggs, 3 bokotos, and I drank half of a family-sized bottled coke. Imagine, eating only two times a day. This Ramadan is killing me. I hope I will survive.

Re: Gist Us On How Ur Ramadan Went Today? by Sweetnecta: 8:14pm On Aug 04, 2011
@omo_to_dun; eating too much meat is bad, even for you who is not a muslim. all that read meat. take good care of your health. alcohol will make you age before you should be aging.

Just saying, since you seem to be proud of drinking gulders.

Yes, I am a Muslim. And please keep your unsolicited advise to yourself. I am doing pretty good.
Re: Gist Us On How Ur Ramadan Went Today? by Sweetnecta: 8:27pm On Aug 04, 2011
@Omo_to_dun: is gulders not beer?

If i am wrong, please correct me and I am sincerely sorry for mislabeling you.

Over eating in or out of the month of Ramadhan is not recommended, though.
Re: Gist Us On How Ur Ramadan Went Today? by Nobody: 8:32pm On Aug 04, 2011
Exactly, not recommended, which means it is not a law, so I can choose to adhere to it or not.

I see the islamic fasting quite different from the christian kind of fasting, The muslims wake and eat food around 4-5 a.m while the christians don't eat after 12 mid 9t,

Over eating is forbidden because the messenger said fill your stomach with 1/3 food, 1/3 drink or liquid and the remaining air so that you are not uncomfortable. Also the messenger said food for 1 is enough for 2. Suhur is recommended to even be light. Allah knows best. then His messenger [as] among mankind.
I see the islamic fasting quite different from the christian kind of fasting, The muslims wake and eat food around 4-5 a.m while the christians don't eat after 12 mid 9t,
Muslims follow commandment. even if you don't eat in that your '4-5 a.m', you are supposed to wake up, even before. islamic month of fast is the month most muslims sleep less, and if you think they were too early in other months, they are definitely a lot earlier in Ramadhan; praying, supplicating, reading Quran and life worth living must go on as normal just like other months.

by the way, who instructs the christians that your 12 mid 9t? we all want to know who and why. the reason for islamic fast is laid ou in surah Baqarah. pick up an english meaning to gain some solid knowledge.

As for me I'm not so happy about what i did early on; i woke up few minutes after five, then i over heard something like Adhan (i never knew it was Iqamat) so i quickly prepared cold tea, As soon as i throw the last slice of bread in my mouth then i overheard the Imam's recitation (meaning Fajr prayer was in progress already). Pls can somebody advice me on what to do?

If I am in your shoes, after the Id, and after I finished my 6 days of Shawwal, I make up that fast, just in case. Allah is Most Forgiving. There are rules of fasting. There is a time for Suhur. There is a cut off time. If you have cut off before adhan, made Salah, and somehow forgot that you are in fasting period and you eat, and then remember that you are fasting, you fast is valid.

What happened to you is different in that you heard what you think is Adhan, then you began to eat. It should be the other way around. You stop eating except what is already being chewed in the mouth, when you hear what you think is adhan. Please make it a habit to wake up long before the time of Adhan and stop eating at least 10 minutes before it.

You can find the timing of everyday in almost every part of the world at www.Islamicfinder.com

Ramadhan Karim aleykum everyone.
