Breaking News Tambuwal, Belgore Blame Foreign Powers For Nigeria's WOES by ak47mann(m): 1:43am On Aug 04, 2011
The speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, and former Chief Justice of the Federation, Alfa Belgore, yesterday launched scathing attacks on unnamed foreign nations whom they blamed for Nigeria's mounting corruption and instability.

At a meeting with Mr Tambuwal on Wednesday, Mr Belgore accused foreign nations of arming and sponsoring the Boko Haram sect, whose militant operations have killed hundreds in northern Nigeria and the federal capital, Abuja.

"The kind of weapons used by Boko Haram for instance, they are not made here," the former jurist said. "They are not being given to them by people here. If our security were well trained, they would have known where these weapons are coming from." He added that the "so called developed nations" are fanning Nigeria's breakup.

Separately, Mr Tambuwal, told a nongovernmental group that lax fund transfer policies of developed nations have "significantly" fuelled public treasury looting in Nigeria.

"Because it takes two to tango," Mr Tambuwal told members of the Kuramo foundation, a group pushing for the passage of law enforcing the repatriation and transparent use of recovered funds.

"In a case where our foreign friends pay lip service to this, then they are condoning corruption because our public office holders will need where to keep their loot. They should legislate to stop the receipt of such money," the speaker said.

He said he had raised similar concerns at a forum in the United States while he served as a member of the House in 2010, and called on the developed nations to "stop cooperating, abetting and aiding corrupt public office holder who after looting our treasury find where to keep the money in their countries." "If you get ill gotten wealth, you will need where to keep them. If you don't find anywhere, then you will be stuck with it, then it will be easy for the law enforcement to get you.

The remarks are some of the most stringent and direct from key officials of government, serving or past, against foreign nations, particularly on the subject of Nigeria's fledgling security.

Resource course

Mr Belgore said many developed nations have worked hard for Nigeria to break up since independence, and would be pleased if that is realised.

"One of the best things to happen to the black race is Nigeria. The so called developed nations are not happy with our stability and they try everything to make it unstable," he said.

He recalled the alleged role of Germany in Nigeria's deadly first coup of 1966 in which many died, and how the development backtracked the training of personnel for the country's new Air Force.

"Nigeria and Brazil had just signed the treaty for our Air Force personnel to be trained by Germany and not long after, we had the first coup in which our leaders were killed," he said. "Then because of the betrayal, our officers including former head of state, Abdulsalami Abubakar, were recalled and moved to the Army while some were deployed to the Customs and the Police. Meanwhile Brazil continued with their training.

"Our iron and steel has remained nowhere despite spending over $80 billion over the past years on the Ajaokuta. After spending that much, we are still grappling with it, we have not gone anywhere." He said the same plot to keep Nigeria permanently on its knees because of its abundant resources is what afflicts the Republic of Congo.

"In Congo, they are still killing themselves, and they say we are going to break up by 2015," he said.

SMH.  And we elected these people?

Just how is Nigeria's existence, one of the best things that has ever happened to the black race? Is the country, not a giant mirror of accumulated failures of the black race to the world?

Why do our politicians always disgrace us with such statements instead of simply keeping quiet?

Tambuwal should pls be fair to his conscience and God,it was not the foreign nations that adviced them to steal and oppose healthy reforms that can develop Nigeria. It is his failure to oppose the heavy bills paid to fund a lowly productive central govt, corruption and continious rape by ignorance, unemployment and offensive opulence and obscene lifestyles of a corrupt elite he belongs to.They have sown to the wind, the revolution wont stop or they stop raping Nigeria!Imagine a country that spends about 80% of her annual budget to pay salaries for just 120000 federal civil servant who return even the paltry 15% budgetary allocations for capital development as unspent funds! This is the real thing abeg leave western owers.Cuba is still standing today even after decades of opposing western ideas so western suport is not the sine qua non for development!

If Tambuwal likes what happens in US, and I hope he does, he should first of all look at the salary of the US members of congress vis a viz those of president Obama, and compare it with what obtains in Nigeria.
There is no better way to destablize and break-up a country than for the members of the house Tambuwal leads eat too dangerously deep into the root fabrics of our society. We don't even need the so-called foreign powers for this one.
I'll just tell the stupid man to shut up, and go preach his cockeyed philosophy to some ret*ards in his home state angry angry angry angry

Tambuwal made a very firm claim that foreign countries are supplying boko haram. But the security agencies seem to know much less than him. How did Tambuwal get to know what he knows?
Strange.

It is a strange thing indeed to hear an Armed Robber accuse a police man of not policing him well.

Tambuwal has said the right thing. He doesn't need to work hand in hand with Boko Haram to know that the weaponry and arms this guys uses are not Nigerian Made. I am sure that majority of the develop country has so much to do with his claims. We know that God has so much promises for Nigeria and neither of their plans would go through. Lamentation 3:37 "Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not" Together the would fall and see us grow, This is our country, whatever we say is what would come to pass. Everyone Pray For Nigeria, it is possible my brothers.

Yes!! lets blame the west for our problems, we can as well invite them to come and re-colonize us again because we are not capable of thinking for ourselves. They encouraged us to loot and bank outside Nigeria, they asked us to pay our teachers and other workers below living-wages, they advice us to run down our hospitals, schools and other social facilities.

@Justwise , Instead of cursing them, pray for them. Some had the right intention to serve, but immediately they were elected to that office, a force grip them and they suddenly embark on a different journey. Pray for Nigeria, do not curse Politicians. Every one has challenges in his/her life. Like someone said in another thread about South Africans, that despite the high crime they commit, you never hear them talk bad about their fellow citizens, but Nigerians are known for it. Oga Justwise, pray for Politicians, is not by might, neither by power. If you ever been elected to a govt office, you would understand. Only prayers can solve the problem of Nigeria, not all the post on NL or any other forum insulting politicians. What you speak, come forth, regardless of who you are or how ignorant one may be. I am not playing with God p.o.c , I would be the last person to do so. Just saying what is right and that's it.

Our power prblm, big genarators manufacturers and importers would be out of market if power becomes stable. How can nigeria have a good economy when we consume or import so much wt out producing.

Dont blame any foreign power here, blame our government for selling us out. Last year, a shipment of bombs and war graded weapons coming from Iran going to the North was intercepted by SSS in Lagos. SSS claimed they have arrested some politicians linked to it. Where are the politicians ? Where is the case ?

Mr Speaker what of the monies that are taken to Saudi Arabia the "the holiest place" on earth especially during the Yar'adua administration and just before he died. Why are these ones not retrieved?

Mr (or Mallam or Alhaji or whatever) Tambuwal appears to over-rate the role of foreign powers in our nation's chequered history at the expense of the paucity of competent, focused and sacrificial leadership. He should start by slashing down on the humongous salaries and allowances that he and his colleagues at the NASS are collecting. Stop bleeding the nation dry, then we can listen to you.
Re: Breaking News Tambuwal, Belgore Blame Foreign Powers For Nigeria's WOES by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 9:13am On Aug 04, 2011
Tambuwal has always been a dolt of pedestrian intelligence, unfortunately we all are involved in voting in absolute cretins into positions of power and when they do what is only within their intellectual capacity to do, we start complaining. Belgore on the other hand I would expect much from him, sadly he has fallen afar from the intelligentsia. He among our nation's founding fathers, ZIK, AWO, BALEWA and the rest of the greedy, self-serving ingrates we now deem heroes built the very unstable political foundations causing chaos in this country today.

Belgore and Tambuwal! it is common knowledge that there is a healthy market for Weapons-Smuggling all around hot spots in Africa, and this is driven by cold hard Ca$h. It is not the US or Europe that wants Nigeria to breakup, Breakup is inevitable slow-death. fortunately this crisis will accelerate the process.

These buffoons memories only go as far as the 60s their understanding of the realities of today are in black and white. that is why we have zero Foreign Policy initiatives and always sound like baboons on the International scene thanks to Ojo Madueke

This Tambuwal deserves to be flogged with barbed wire! See this cretin blaming 'developed nations'. Which 'developed nation' will aid the terrorist Boko haram? Which 'developed nation' will ship ancient Ak47 rifles and crudely cobbled together IEDs?

Let him blame himself and his corrupt fellows for the rampant corruption in the system. Who do we now blame for the 50 million naira his fellow reps collected as quarterly allowance a few months back?

I think what Tambuwal and Belgore are trying to say is that naija is like a baby. the western nations created boko haram, mend, and kidnapping. We don't know what we are doing cos we are babies you see. the west should stop dividing us by giving us arms to fight ourselves.
