Ending oil subsidy is easier said than done and anybody can easily say the sentence.

What plans do you have if subsidy is removed, knowing that, it will bring “never seen before” hardship upon Nigerians.

List out what your plans are, to cushion the effect. The moment subsidy is removed, their is no way pump price won’t get to an average of $3/liter.

Though the gains will be enormous in the long run, but the first impact which could span 5 years, would be disastrous.

If oil subsidy is totally removed, how much will Price of oil be? To those comparing price of oil from 2015 to 2019.

Oil subsidy is the reason why government is unable to do many things and results to borrowing but Nigerians want miracle instead of facing reality.

Any price it is, let it be.

With fuel subsidy, we are still paying the full price of fuel even when you buy it subsidized because the government will use your money and pay for the subsidy in addition to the trillions they will loot inside.

Inside that subsidy, Nigerians are bleeding for Niger Republic, Cameroon, Benin, etc. Cos after using our money to pay for subsidy, those neighboring countries will enter Nigeria with tanker and take cheap fuel that has been subsidized with our money.

If fuel is 500 naira let it be. If fuel is 700 naira let it be. Only those who need fuel will be buying it and actually paying for it. Kpatakpata transportation is going to be more expensive to adjust to the new price. Diesel and Kerosene is 800 naira people are not dead.

Why not? Is diesel not 800 naira?

Mind you, you're paying over 1k per liter for fuel right now if you add subsidy money and the looted funds inside subsidy transactions.

So what is 400 naira?

Yes Bros. It also makes sense to me too but obi has one lazy attitude that l have noticed in him few months back..

He doesn't carry out extensive research about things before coming out to speak or write ...that is one

Before scraping subsidies one must first talk about how to uplift Nigerians' economic conditions

by providing job, entrepreneurial opportunities, and other form of economic empowerment ..

Without all these first it will be an untold hardship in later years that obi wants to bring in.. grin worse than ever

To the obidient movement,

The youths have found a voice in being obidient. The youths have found a platform for sounding their voices, the youths are ever ready to show their resolve in rescuing their nation. The youths chose Peter obi and not the other way round, his ideals, his moral capacity and his records are enviable, while resonating with the thought process of Nigerian youths.

To the youths , I greet you, I applaud you, this is a fight for your voices to be heard. The naysayers fight everyday to discourage you, they attack you with lies and accuse you of bullying. Don't be discouraged, you are only taking a political position in Nigeria's affairs.

However I have to tell you the vision for the obidient movement. The movement must go beyond the campaign and sensitization season, the movement must fight to the very end. The goal of enthroning the youth's choice to lead us will be achieved, however the job is not yet done. The naysayers and detractors are already planning on how to make the presidency of your choice a bad one. Through their terrorist activities. The intend to graduate from naysayers to terrorists, they will attack the land with media lies, sponsored attacks of terrorism, insider jobs with sponsored moles and many more evils they can muster. Be ready for such eventuality when your choice wins, be ready to defend your choice in office, he/she will have it rough at the beginning, but once the enemies of the nation see your continuing resolve to fight for a Nigeria of your vision, they will eventually back away and allow your choice to paddle Nigeria forward.

Even after your choice leaves office, the next generation of obidient youths must exercise their rights through the movement to pick the best Nigerian to lead the nation again. The right to pick who leads this nation must always be by the youths of that age. The youths of that age will always be the decision makers on who would pilot the affairs of the nation. Only the competent and morally just of candidates will qualify. Great men and women from all parts of Nigeria, will have a chance to pitch to the obident nigerian youths, they will sell their ideas and characters and the youths will vote to make their choice president and other elective posts. The naysayers will see your success and join your ranks and Nigeria will become great again.

Don't be scared of losing, be motivated in expressing your vision. To lose is part and parcel of elections, just as it is to win. The fear of losing should never be an encumbrance to stop you from expressing your voice and choice. The youths will always be the enlightened generation, the detribalized generation, the religiously fluid generation and it is on your efforts and your choices, that every new Nigeria will be built.

Ensure that this first journey , which will be a start of a life long journey is accomplished without violence, without tribal and religious hatred, without corruption and with our firm motto of "we no dey give shishi". God is our patron and he will ordain our choices everyday you fight for the good of Nigeria.

Be obidient and useful.

If he means it, good.

It is better we get rid of the thing called oil subsidy. It has deprived us of investment in refineries and continues to cause a growing deficit in our budget.

Yes, fuel will cost a lot, but let's face reality.

Removing subsidy is one way to uplift Nigeria's condition economically.

Because not only does it save us 5 trillion naira that would have gone on subsidy, it ends smuggling of petrol out of the country and eventually attracts investment which means more revenue and jobs directly and indirectly.

I will repeat, it’s easy to say “REMOVE SUBSIDY”

Let the government test run it for just 3 months and let Nigerians decide. Cos people don’t really know what it means and just clamoring for the removal!

If their are no stated and outlined mitigation plans, Nigerians should not accept.

There is a mitigation.....the savings from removing the subsidy , and the potential for more investment

We have been on this matter since the late 1980s. The same arguments you are making now have been made in the past, and as a result nothing has been done.

Meanwhile we are spending 6 trillion on subsidy up from 2 trillion last year and it is going to keep rising next year.

Either we take the medicine now, or we keep on taking loans to cover the ballooning deficit. The same loans that People complain about a lot

Like I said, plans should be outlined. Will minimum wage be increased for both private and public workers? Will the unemployed be paid benefits? Will the government invest a good chunk of such savings on public transportation?

Let’s remove it and we will use the savings to make progress is “SCAM”

Their should be clear defined terms and agreement. The moment it’s removed without this agreed terms, some people just got scammed. And the hardship will be “NEVER SEEN BEFORE”

After reading through I was disappointed that no one talked about refinery.
I will suggest the refineries are working before removing subsidy if not the problem of importing refined oil will make the oil always expensive.
For heavens sake the refinery should be working first then oil subsidy can be removed.
This is not rocket science.

Being an obi supporter is a work on its own, you have to constantly try to read meanings that are nor there and make wild assumptions, merge truths and lies just to whitewash your candidate.

Everyone following things in Nigeria knows removing subsidy is the way to go, however, what plans are in place for the aftermath of its removal? What's the framework, what's the roadmap? Or is it just remove subsidy bandwagon?

The other time it was Egypt generates (can't recall) so so amount of MW, we too can, no plans, no framework, nothing, just hype and noise.

Recently, it is sambisa is twice as big as isreal, we can use it to produce food. No plan, nothing.

Any year 2 student in the university knows all this shit, how do you plan to achieve it?

Hype and noise.

when the price goes up, investors will see the need to build refineries and pay taxes, you can't build refinery and make profit under the subsidy regime unless yours is also subsidized and government can run refinery successfully. Even NNPC that is the marketing wing of our oil sector couldn't be managed properly.

Well, if he removes subsides, the money then goes to finance the budget instead of being wasted on keeping fuel artifically cheap.

If you don't get it, sorry.

Which hardship ?
How does subsidy benefits the poor masses ? Farmers ? Producers ? Manufacturers ?

The above class of people don't use petrol or use diesel so how in heavens sake would removing subsidy affect them

Togo , Benin Republic , Cameroon , Chad , Niger are all poorer on average than Nigerians yet by petrol twice the price we buy yet are not dead

Do you know what 6.6 trillion can do for us in a year that we use to subsidize petrol ?

Nigerian border was blocked one of the reason is because we import foreign rice.
Farmers were not prepared and as such there was untold hardship until farmers started cultivating rice and there was little respite when harvesting of rice started.

Remove subsidy and continue to export crude oil and import refined oil and wait for many super story why the refinery cannot work.

Don't forget a single man by name Dangote is building a refinery without waiting for prices to go up.

The fact that he knows when his refinery is ready the government will remove subsidy the the government should also be able to kick start our refinery and remove subsidy when the refineries are ready.

Unless you are saying Dangote refinery when ready will wait for when ever the price will go up or when subsidy is removed.

Dangote and the elites who invested in his refinery know what they are doing and taking Nigerians for a ride.

Imagine one man can pull resources and build a refinery and we have 4 refinery not working.
