Acts 8
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
¹⁸ And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
¹⁹ Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

The anointing of the Holy Spirit is the presence and power of God freely given to every child of God.

What is the purpose of the anointing?

1. It empowers us to evangelize and win souls

2. It empowers us to perform miracles

3. It empowers us to live holy

4. It empowers us to serve God

5. It empowers us to prosper

6. It empowers us to be free and to liberate the demonic oppressed

7. It empowers us to fulfill destiny

The anointing is freely given to us by the Holy Spirit. We shouldn't beg God for the anointing, it's our inheritance as His children. We all can access the anointing because we all are God's children.

However a trend which we see in our bible text is still happening today. A lot of ministers of the gospel are directly or indirectly commercializing the anointing which ought to be free.

Simon was a magician. He worked with certain demons to perform fake miracles to deceive the Samaritans.

However, when he was saved and saw the true and raw power of God demonstrated through Philip, he was amazed.

When Simon saw the power of the Holy Spirit given by the laying of hands, he offered the apostles money for the anointing to do similar.

What was his motive? He wanted to make money out of the anointing. He wasn't so concerned about the salvation of souls, he just wanted to do business with God's power.

Dear readers, do you know many of our ministers today have the same mentality of Simon? They are in ministry for their bellies. It's ironic to know that there are ministers who seek the anointing to do business rather than the salvation of souls.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
— Acts 1:8

The primary purpose of the anointing is the salvation of souls not money making.

Sadly we have ministers who are more concerned with the numerical and financial growth of their churches or ministries rather than the genuine salvation of the lost.

4 ministerial errors of today's ministers:

1. When you seek God's power mainly to enrich yourself and make yourself famous. So many ministers today, purely seek anointing for wealth and fame.

2. When you exalt yourself too high because of the grace or the great anointing of God upon your life and look down on others.

3. When you begin to seek extra powers outside the Holy Spirit to swindle your congregation financially.

4. When you begin to embezzle ministry money at ease because of your great anointing and entitlement mentality.

As a true minister of the gospel:

1. No matter the level of anointing you carry, you humble yourself and respect others.

2. No matter the level of anointing you carry, you don't carry entitlement mentality to ministry money.

3. You use your powerful anointing primarily to save souls and to solve problems not to enrich yourself.

4. You don't put a price tag or charge people for your anointing. I was shocked the other day when I saw a ministry online that charges people different levies for miracles. The more powerful the miracle, the more money levied.

No pastor, bishop, prophet, evangelist, apostle or teacher has sole rights on the anointing.

The anointing is free to all Christians. However, the level of the anointing differs due to the:

1. Amount of time spent reading the bible

2. Amount of time fasting and praying/praising

If you can consecrate more extra time reading the bible and fasting/praying, you will carry more anointing than many pastors even though you aren't called to be one.

We ALL are accountable to God on how we use the anointing!

Judedwriter, I want to ask you two questions:

1: Where in the Scriptures is stated, directly or indirectly, that someone should open a "church"?

2: What is the difference between a person who opens a "church" and another person who opens a supermarket?

1. No where is it written to open a church.
However God calls people to different ministries that may bring about a church building.

2. Sadly many people open churches for business like supermarkets. Such people do so for greed and many aren't called by God.

1: How so? Explain more.

2: You agree with me that there isn't any difference between opening a "church" and opening a supermarket?

Partly.

Many open churches like supermarkets to do business.

While some open churches because of God's calling.

It's not every ministry or minister that opens a church.

Some ministers are itineraries.

Some ministers require a building to do ministry.

1: Yahushua the Messiah never said anyone should open "church", did he?

2: How, then, can anyone open " church" and say "God" called him?

3: Isn't every saint, servant or messenger of Yahushua the Messiah called?

4: Require a building to do what exactly?

5: What is "church"?
