Why I Am Not In Support Of Peter Obi Ambition - Obiano Former Aide by Newsline09(m): 11:24pm On Aug 14, 2022
My opposition to Peter Obi's presidency is not because I dislike or disagree with him politically, but because it is clear that he will not win the 2023 elections and his sustained grandstanding a disadvantage to South East.

I went after him so hard and highlighted his many flaws as Anambra Governor because he let bad-behaving followers obscure his desire, portraying him as a violent candidate.

His fans are antithetical to what Peter Obi stands for. uncouth, bad-mannered, and mentally impaired.

My main objection to Obi's ambition is that our politics is still insufficiently evolved for a candidate like him to win the presidency. To be president, you must have support from all regions. Those who argue the contrary are scumbags who haven't made the effort to learn about Nigeria's kind of politics or those who loathe the Igbos and pretend to be for us.

Nigerians have a voting pattern, and no matter what’s said, that pattern will always be maintained, at least in the interim. We operate a representative democracy where the stakeholders make the most decisions. Power is obtained through elite conspiracy, not through loud demonstrations without support from the elites.

With the manner in which the 2023 election is going, the Igbos will lose badly because, like 2015, we are taking the lead again, while other regions have their eggs in more than one basket.

They have made Peter Obi an Igbo candidate and sent out their representatives to both the APC and PDP. On the day of the election will come the greatest betrayal. No state in the North Central, West and East will give Peter Obi and Labour Party the 25% spread. Instead, votes will be split between APC and PDP; the South West will do their agenda without a spread for Peter Obi and Labour Party; and the South South will vote on their own and still give APC the spread. Peter Obi and the Labour Party will not win a single state in the zones and regions. But in the South East, they will gladly support us to waste our votes on our own, so they will mock us during power sharing and abandon us to another round of secession.

Elections are not won by emotions.
When the chips are down, the factors of the election will come into play and everyone will return home to their ethnic and regional interests; decisions will be taken and effected at the polls. In the end, politics is about personal interest.

Obi will not win any state in the South West or South South, but he will damage votes throughout the South East and shortchange us from another round of power rotations, as we collectively did in 2015.

Even Peter Obi is aware that he won’t win any election, but he is massaging his ego and pushing his vendetta against his old friends in the PDP, whom he thinks are responsible for his political misfortune.
I understand the desperation of those who want to use the Labour Party to get back into power and get into assemblies at all cost. They can tell many lies just to be elected, but those who should know better but have decided to stay mute are the ones I’m more worried about their mendaciousness as regards the disadvantaged bandwagon effects designed to drown Ndi Igbo, which is the Labour Party.

Elections in Nigeria are based on ethnic and regional interests. Peter Obi alone cannot change the tendency, at least not in 2023.

If Peter Obi fails to win, he has nothing to lose, life goes on for him, he will return to his multibillion naira business empire and if he so wishes, he may try again, but then the problem of Nigeria will be escalated beyond imagination because if PDP or APC wins, the hyenas and jackals who have gathered again will continue to plunder what is left of Nigeria, now if you are a youth ask yourself this question; for how long shall we continue like this?

Hunger and death knows no tribe.

Peter Obi is God's last chance to Nigerians to savage Nigeria from total ruins. Yes Peter Obi will not solve all Nigeria's problems, but he will reposition Nigeria to enter the pathway to greatness and also pave way for visionary young Nigerians to take over mantle of leadership and lead Nigeria to where God destined Nigeria for.

If una like, waste this rare opportunity and suffer for another 60 years, God willing, I will be here to read una wailings as usual

Who doesn't know that Peter Obi is a typical desperate politician?

A mere ticket hunter without any political ideology or steadfastness.

When he loses, he will abandon Labour Party to fend for themselves as they were doing before without any political office holder in the whole party.

Shame on people like him.

Their fear is that Peter Obi is causing PDP plenty of tension in the SE and other political regions. Their pain is the growing popularity of Peter Obi. At least they acknowledge his growing popularity and the fact that he is not a noise maker.

PDP sold the position to a money bag and Obi chose to move on. While others chose to but the APC form for 100m Orji Uzor, read the arithmetic, kept his money and shut his mouth as he knew that the slot would be sold to BAT.

The Igbos have always voted PDP against their own so called regional party APGA at the presidential elections. Even at the regional level the SE is shared between APGA, PDP and APC, showing that the Igbos are not partisan. PDP denied them the opportunity when it was glaringly their time.

Without doubt it is the turn of the SE to produce the President in 2023. Greedy politicians in the PDP and APC are jointly claiming emi lo kan and you expect people like Peter Obi to sit quietly and watch?

The truth remains that Nigerians have for long wanted a third force to challenge the reckless destruction of this nation. Peter Obi and Labour Party have become that third force today.

We need leaders who truly understand how economies and nations work. We need leaders who can unite the nation and ensure religious and ethnic peace is restored. We do not need looters and embezzlers. We do not need leaders whose sources are wealth are not accountable; leaders who as governors, took undue advantage of their positions to financially elevate themselves.

The fear of Peter Obi has become the wisdom of APC and PDP. One wonders why they do not talk about Kwakwanso and NNPP. Is it that they have not thought that they have battles to face in the north with Kwakwanso? Why is Obi their issue?

The truth once again is that sane Nigerians trust him, irrespective of tribe or religion. His profile grows daily.

Even if Obi does not win, decent Nigerians would have proven the point that they made their effort of effect the change through their PVCs and support. It is left to bewitched Nigerians to continue in hardship and poverty if they vote for the wrong persons in 2023.

I also think that Obi cannot win the elections. However, it amuses that people say they are against him because he cannot win. If elections were always about those that can win elections, the one or two people will be running for elections all the time

The worst thing about the elections is that it has been reduced to fighting for 'national cake'

We are different, majority of the people who participate in marathon is just to experience the feel. If Peter Obi is convinced he stands a chance, we have to let him be.....win or lose, our lives still goes on.

I got a UK Postgraduate partial scholarship to do my Msc in Clinical Child Psychology, the University had 15 slots opened to thousands of postgraduate applicants from different part of the world, across their many disciplines.

That year the scholarship application started mid February to end 11p.m, May 28th. Knowing that thousands will be applying and my chances very low, I didn't bother myself but afternoon of 28th May, I thought why not just apply though your chances are slim and tick the box that you attempted. I finally submitted my application with requested documents at 10.49p m......10th June, I got my congratulatory letter from the University and my relocation to the UK became real.

There is no harm in attempting no matter the odds.

Peter Obi has every right to contest for president. Let the electorates decide his fate at the polls. If he loses, no problem, we do it again 2027.

False claim on SE voting APC on regional level. The South East never voted for any APC governor, neither in 2015 or in 2019. The total Senatorial candidates voted by the South East on the platform of APC are 3 persons - 2 in Imo and 1 in Abia. So what exactly are you saying?

Even the Governors who defected to APC like Umahi was ridiculed, while Uzodinma has been tagged "Supreme Court Governor" who will only do one term.

The sad truth is that the South East has always been politically naive. Until you all learn how to predict the trends and patterns of voting in Nigeria and most importantly how to build bridges across tribes and cultures, unfortunately Igbo presidency will still be elusive in 2027, in 2031 and in 2035.

You made another false claim on Uzor Kalu. Uzor Kalu didn't want to compete with other aspirants in the South because he knew he will be trounced at the primaries - what structure did Kalu have in APC that gave him confidence that he could win? To further drive home my point on political naivety, Kalu chose to back power remaining in the North by supporting Lawan as against it coming back to the South just to spite the Yorubas in the South West who were front liners for the presidential ticket. How did it end?

You might chose to disregard what the OP wrote, but what he said is the perfect truth. Obi is just grandstanding and is not going anywhere. The persons I pity the most are the youths he is carrying along for the ride. Igbo youths following him, I understand as he is one of their own. But the minority Yoruba youths that are following him and forming woke online are just an absolute disgrace but then it is a free world.

My problem with such people is they are always thinking of status quo. This analysis does not take into cognizance the recent electoral law and the new interest of youths in the electoral process. Only one thing can make Peter not win this election and I will not say it so that the enemies of Nigeria will not use it to their advantage. The earlier this political jobbers realize that people no longer listen to elites the faster they can strategize properly. I will prefer they continue to propagate this ignorance till February 2023.

Mindlog:

Not getting involved in a fruitless exercise is a personal ideology though.
However the analogy you're trying to present here is a different scenario & also an event in an ideal environment.

Engaging in an adventure whose decision to win or get an entrance is left in the hands of both illiterates & the educated with primodal considerations can't be view in the light of ur analogy.

It's actually good to be optimistic but this is Nigeria. Some of us have been around & have been involved to know what is feasible.

The failure of Endsars should be a pointer to those who think that the Obidient movement will succeed. Endsars failed paramountly because the northern youth didn't support it.

Well, Igbos have a consolation in Okowa as VP candidate in the PDP.

The only problem is if APC wins the presidency, and even at that, Tinubu has a history of uniting tribes and minorities, so not entirely a bad situation for Igbos. The most impacted will be the PDP though.

The bright side is the heightened political awareness especially amongst the youths, which puts an end to further impunity by the political class. That is a huge plus imo!
