The leading candidate for Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming election, Dr. Patrick Umoh, has emphatically stated that he will set a benchmark when elected into the House of Representatives come 2023 stressing that he is fully prepared to offer qualitative representation.

The political heavyweight who is a Lawyer, Teacher and Philanthropist, opined that the business of law making stands upon a tripod; Legislation, oversight function and constituency projects, pointing out that his wealth of experience in his career and politics qualifies him most for what the constituency deserves as a representative.

Dr. Umoh, who dropped the hint while fielding questions from newsmen on Monday, stressed that he has garnered a lot of experience in legislative business.

On why he threw his hat in the ring for the plum job, the Obot Akara born law luminary pointed out that he was passionate about changing the narrative, assuring that the live of every son and daughter of Ikot Ekpene, Essien Udim and Obot Akara Local Government Areas will matter if they elect him in 2023.

His words: "My passion to serve is conscientiously driven by my earnest desire to meet the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians; particularly the people of Ikot Ekpene/ Essien Udim / Obot Akara Federal Constituency.

"Over the years, I have paid my dues as a consummate party man; judging from my intense participation and contribution to macro politics which have afforded me the leverage to know the needs of my people. Meeting these needs is the fulcrum of my purpose. My people desire quality representation. They desire opportunities to better their lots. They desire the leadership they trust will give them access to the dividends of democracy not as some form of charity, but that which is due to them as citizens of our great country. Above all, they desire a man of competence and capacity to deliver these goals. Fortuitously, God had long prepared me for this task through arduous capacity building," Dr. Umoh stated.

He assured his people that they will experience all-round development if given the mandate to represent them at the national level, adding that with lobbying and loyalty to the leaders of his party; APC, he will would usher in a breathe of fresh air.

Hear him: “In the legislature, lobbying is sine-qua-non, but loyalty is the key.

"Suffice it to say that, ours is therefore a liberation movement that will transform our representative democracy in parliament to a strong voice of protection and emancipation of our people and heritage. I belong to the people. They deserve a better life," the Knight of Saint John International, emphasized.

Dr. Patrick Umoh who said politics was about transforming the lives of others positively, promised that if elected, he will use his position to develop his constituency and his constituents.

“I have a lot of empowerment programmes that I started but only limited to my area. Rest assured that when given this opportunity, I will widen my coverage," said the former Secretary, Obot Akara Local Government Council.

Answering a reporter's question, the legal practitioner described Senator Godswill Akpabio as the right man to represent Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District in 2023, adding that the former Governor's commitment at developing Akwa Ibom State to the envy of others has no rival.

I’ve come to terms with my observations about supporters of the presidential flag bearers of APC,PDP and LP.

The supporters of APC/Tinubu are mostly those that rely on government patronage, the existing corrupt system, brief-case/portfolio contractors and businessmen who have no viable means of livelihood or ability to create wealth outside of government. They depend solely on government to live.

The supporters of PDP/Atiku are mainly those who did not benefit from APC’s maladminstration, with hope that Atiku’s presidency will somehow allow them make money from the treasury, they are so used to free money from their days in government that the last 7 years have so impoverished them and they can’t wait to take over.
They have almost same Idiology as the APC except that one is in power and the other can’t wait to replace the one in power. Nothing dissimilar.

As for LP/Obidients, the supporters are mostly self- reliant people, whose only dream is to have a working government. They believe Nigeria has great and enormous potentials and can work again. They want a new beginning for Nigeria; a change from the endemic corruption that has been the bane of Nigeria’s development. They want a RESET. They want Nigeria to be productive by industrialization. They want a shift from consumption to production. They want to get the ports working efficiently and effectively. They want to tackle insecurity by creating jobs through industrializing the economy. They want every child of school age to be in school because they understand that an educated populace Is a productive populace.
