APC Governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has revealed that the priority of his EDGE agenda will be to squarely face the challenges of unemployment, provide human capital development in agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, housing, and other labour-intensive interventions.

Focus Naija can report that he made this known while delivering the keynote address at the recently concluded Urhobo Day Celebration held in the UK on Saturday, 27th August, 2022.

According to him, a Delta State Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Empowerment Programme (DEEP) shall be established with cluster industries in each of the 25 LGAs of Delta State to create enabling environment for industries and manufacturing, establish technology hubs, set up small business loan guarantee schemes, promote skills acquisition to aid Career Development.

Calling for the support of progressive sons and daughters of other ethnic nationalities across the state, he said it is time to build on a solid foundation, work in concerted effort to consolidate on his achievements.

He said;

“Our priority is to face headlong the challenge of unemployment. Human capital development, agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, housing, and other labour-intensive interventions are at the core of our agenda. We shall establish a Delta State Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Empowerment Programme (DEEP). We shall also facilitate the establishment of cluster industries in each of the 25 LGAs of our State.

“We will deliberately create an enabling environment for industries and manufacturing, establish technology hubs, set up small business loan guarantee schemes, promote skills acquisition, and set up a Career Development Centre.

“We will guarantee the rights of women and capitalise on their unique energy to drive social and economic development. We will also initiate a youth development program that will move the youth away from the hopelessness of today, connect them to creative endeavours and generate energies for honourable work.”

Earlier, he thanked the Urhobo Nation for standing by him in his political journey, having him represent them at the National Assembly and also supporting him to attain the fifth highest political office as Deputy Senate President to give Urhobo a voice and it’s pride of place in the country.

He went on to enumerate successes recorded in his seven years sojourn to include giving legal backing to the law establishing the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), which is a very important university in the heart of Urhoboland and also that establishing a federal polytechnic.

Working for the progress of the Urhobo Nation, the Senator mentioned that he enabled widespread renovations in schools and hospitals, providing modern teaching and learning infrastructure, as well as influencing wide network of road infrastructure.

He said same goes for electricity infrastructure as both conventional energy sources and renewable energy were provided to light up towns and villages in Delta Central Senatorial District.
