These sorts of articles and events are a reminder that because of sin (Genesis 6:5-7) Almighty GOD righteously destroyed this planet once, with the exception of eight ( 8 ) people whom He saved by HIS mercies (1 Peter 3:20, 2 Peter 2:5).

"And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh." - Genesis 9:12-15

GOD's word declares another destruction at the end of the age...

"But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men." - 2 Peter 3:7

... and a new creation...

"For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind." - Isaiah 65:17

Have you come to know the loving mercies of GOD by His grace? Read the Holy Bible with frequency (Acts 17:11) and "pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17)... before one dies in the flesh (Hebrews 9:27)... it is still the day of salvation only through the Lord YESHUA, the CHRIST! (Acts 4:12)
