Lots of Americans confused about Irish twitter because our Anglo-centric education taught us Ireland suffered a “famine” when it was really a British led genocide. The Brits were exporting Ireland’s crops while the Irish literally starved to death. There are over 70 million people around the world with Irish heritage because their ancestors were forced to leave their homeland or starve with the rest.
