In a recent video, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party was having a discussion with a group of people when he showed his hosts the now popular "Whatsapp Message", implied to have been posted by his opposition member.

If we're to be truthful and analytic, the actual context of that scene was innocent. Peter Obi used that writeup to describe how people usually vote along tribal lines, tribal interest and under financial incentive in Nigeria. After the man sitting next to him completed the reading, Peter Obi exclaimed, "This is your Country!!". He went to explain how that poster could eventually be given money, forsaking all other better options or logic, that money would eventually decide his vote.

Nigerians, I want to ask Is this not your country ?, where vote buying and tribal politics has become the order of the day. This is the singular message Peter Obi was passing across, i.e for the electorate to be smarter in the coming elections and free themselves from that ungainful cycle.

And even among Peter Obi's supporters such people exist like the Pastor who while on the pulpit, directed that Igbos who will not vote for Peter Obi should be evicted from Igboland or the other Pastor cum Prophet that said being a Yoruba, he has no business voting an Igbo person. If this men of authority can bear such a thought process, how much more the everyday Nigerian.

Although he made suggestions about a particular candidate, Peter Obi never mentioned any single tribe. He didn't even characterize that post as the political outlook of any tribe in Nigeria. So what is the problem or noise about tribalism and bigotry all about ?

These noisemakers are the people whose political careers and affiliations are based on either financial incentives or tribal sentiments. They are the true bigots and tribalists that Peter Obi spoke of; because a detribalised individual can not decode that scene in such a tone ( you can't give out what you don't have inside).
Meanwhile some of them, being 'bankrolled' by their paymasters have decided to play the role of the spin doctor or an abstract painter. They are spinning fables that are not true from an innocent narrative and painting images that can never depict reality.

Nigerians, the choice is up to you. Will you side these fair-weather politicians and bigots who seek to rule over you or someone who left the easy path and chose the hard lonely road just to represent you. I hope you make the right decision in 2023.

Abeg let us rest with all this plenty English, suddenly we have all become holy, Nigerians have been attacking each other based on ethnicity and religion since time immemorial, even up till this very moment, a certain group of people have decided to term every single supporter of Obi IPOB... What the OP said is nothing but the truth, analysing the context in which the whole scenario played out and any honest person will know it was not attempt to paint any tribe bad but to point out how playing the ethnic card has destroyed the country.
