Why do most web developers choose to park more than 10websites on a shared hosting when u can achieve same result with VPS or Ds and have better control and a lot of benefits

And I also noticed that most Devs thinks that configuring a VPS is like rocket science

So my question is why do most Devs choose shared over VPS and Ds

1. Because of Linux command , resulting hard to configure
2. Cost of window based server
3. Poor web development background
4. not knowing the benefits
5. others

When you are using tools like docker, you don't have a choice. Right now all my backend projects are dockerized so VPS or nothing.

It's cheap.

I pay for WHM cPanel too, which makes operating it easy for me at an additional cost to the whole package. I still use the command line for critical issues tho.

If you go for google cloud/AWS anything you see at the end of the month na your business. I usually start at 12 dollar per month with vultr and work my way up.

That's why I included it in the list stress to configure server, managed vps cost more than unmanaged vps, if u are very good with linux command you will find out that u will get cheaper vps than will cost just few cents than a regular shared hosting

One thing about linux is always having multi free choice of program to use cp , os etc

If u don't care getting your hands dirty u can't cut cost

Lol...I've been using, configuring VPS server for long... most times when you create a thread with such topic, most people dont have anything to contribute.

I remember when I even had to setup a custom email server for a client here on Nairaland who wanted to send atleats 250k - 500k email per day.

Told him to be patient so we could warm and rotate the IPs accordingly to decrease spam and bounce rates and guarantee high inbox rate. Most of the thing I was saying sounded alien to him.

Too many things you can do with VPS servers but the market no dey here and oyinbo people would rather use their own people for this kind technicalities.
