I have been hearing about Abacha Umunze. People say it is the best in the entire country so I travelled to Umunze to see how it is prepared. I eventually tasted it for the first time and ... just see my reaction in this video. You can learn how to make Abacha Umunze which was explained in this video in simple terms.

Umunze? You mean Ogbunka neighboring town.

Na wa o. All nairaland men look the same.

By the way, we from Abia make the best abacha cos it originated from our place and we call it Ncha.

It is best served with azu iwuwu, ukpaka and those tiny garden eggs.

Our traditional marriage is not complete without this delicacy. In fact, it's the first thing that's served before main meals.

That said, no abacha is worth my time.

Poco, I will not take any Abacha slander from you.

Abeg, no try am. grin

The way nairaland men hype themselves here made me have very high expectations about their looks.

But on most times when I see their pictures or the few I have met I keep doubting if they're really the ones on Nairaland.

I hate abacha, ukwa and okpa. There is not how you would prepare these things that would make me like them.

As for our resident prizes, the problem is that the ones that have anything to offer us are usually quiet. They just read, observe, comment once in a while and send PMs if they want to talk offline. Na you go use your hand to go through their 1000 comments since 2012 and make your judgement. But you see these ones shouting alfa male? One of their leader is n undergraduate. E never even reach NYSC camp, e wan come tell men them. I mean men in their mid 30s and above how to treat sugarbabies. Odiegwu o

So which one is Abacha Ncha

This (any type of abacha that’s mixed with palm oil, as-opposed to boboze-lite abacha, the invariably-ocha kind). These are all just different variations of abacha-ncha.

But for-real (and-again) southern Ebonyi (Afikpo), certain parts of Abia and Awka and Oji River/Nkanu (so long as the ogili-isi is moderated, to stop it tasting too bitter; Waawa folk have a tendency to go overboard with ogiri as far as abacha’s concerned) do it best as far as I know. Especially Edda (Afikpo).

One of our family-friends is from Edda and her version of abacha (she does a banging coconut-jollof rice as-well) is what made me love abacha-ncha in the first place.

Orumba-ncha must be good but there are few places in Anambra state that can do it as well as Edda and Nkanu folk for what I know.

Between SOUTHEAST and SOUTHSOUTH who have more super nutritional meals?

LIKE for SOUTHEAST, SHARE for SOUTHSOUTH

Probably south-south in terms of technical nutritional variety but Igbos have the most well-assorted menu that’s concretely well-known all across Nigeria and it happens to be pretty-healthy, too.

Ondo, Ekiti and the middle chunk of Osun try (and some of their soups really are nutritious and tasty, especially Ondo City’s sumptuous take on okro-soup) but they lack the variety. And the less said about other Yorubas and any food that’s not party/small-chops-esque, rice or beans-related, the better. They don’t really know how to cook anything-else (except maybe ikokore and efo riro, but I’d still rather take the latter with pounded yam from a conscientious Ekiti woman than a lazy Ibadan one who lives-and-breathes oil).

abacha is an udi/ezeagu delicacy. Abia dey learn work where Enugu dey

No. Other-than a pocketful of places in Enugu State, 042/043 abacha really isn’t all-that. Igba-Wa(a)wa (okpa), sure, but their abacha quality is half-and-half. They do well compared to Imo State folk (obviously - their own na plain ugba salad, which is fair-enough) but between Ebonyi and Abia at-least (Anambra not so much) they have fierce competition. They’re not as uniformly-good with abacha as you think they are.

The only people that prepare nice abacha in Enugu are ezeagu people. The rest are not serious especially my side.
