Why Is Hr Officers So Cruel? by YourBestWriter: 6:00pm On Sep 29, 2022
My lil bro applied for this job; he was so excited when they sent him a message online for test, so he did the test and waited for a response from the company.

Fast forward to Monday, my bro was in a meeting, so during the meeting his phone rang and he quickly set the phone to be silent. However, the caller called only once and never called again. But as soon as my bro was done with the meeting, he called the number back. A lady picked up the call and my lil bro was like "sorry, I missed your call, I was in a meeting." The lady said she will call back.

Today, after three days of waiting, my brother decided to call the lady again. "Please are you working with xxxxxx company?" My brother asked.

An awkward silence ensued before the lady said "why are you asking?" My brother replied with "sorry, I was expecting a meeting with xxxxxx company, and you called yesterday and you said you will call back, but you never did."

The lady now said: "yes, we are already through with the next stage which is the interview and when another opportunity arises we will let you know."

My brother have been depressed since.

Sorry for your little brother to experience such, as you know jobs applicants are not than the available jobs and lots of ppl will beg/struggle to gain a particular post/slot.

Your brother made a mistake not to have picked the call, he could easily excuse himself from the meeting step outside and answer the call.

More reason why with my Truecaller once a new number calls it will display the caller.

Most HR are natural hated and some are loved.

Imagine my Kid sister invited for an interview and she requested for a virtual meeting but the HR requested she must be in the office which is important. The job was in another state and she spent 10k, imagine they didn't refund part payment for her tfare even when she told the HR she was coming from another state and pleaded if they could help her with anything for tfare. The interview didn't last 10mins and you asked someone to travel down for an interview

She slept at the b/stop for 2 days before a good Samaritan helped her.

Job hunting isn't done leisurely. You must be prepared physically, mentally and financially. Your brother ought to have been at alert waiting for every call since he was job hunting. No excuses because the job of the HR is not to give you a job, but to screen out unqualified candidates so that the hiring person could get the most qualified people. Your brother made the job of the HR easy by not being at alert when he should. Job hunting demands skills and preparedness. If you're good at these, you must get jobs because the person hiring needs you as much as you need a job. Good candidates are offered multiple jobs because they have what it takes - the mental capacity, skills and preparedness to get the job.

I can relate, but in my own experience I did something different. I recall years back when my head still has some "choko". I told the HR that I am currently low on cash couple with the fact that I stay very far four states away from where the interview will be holding and that we should probably do a virtual interview, the HR said it important you visit the office.
I was there on the day of the interview, when I saw the MD ( with dreads and our last born is even older than the guy), then I knew the reason they have the challenges the are currently facing, then I notice 85% of the work force were women and I met the CEO then I understand the reason they had the problems they are facing.

After all said and done, I told them I don't have tfare back to base, the CEO looked and the HR and asked, "Did we make any provision for this?" She responded, No, I was shocked and immediately fired back that I specifically told you we could do virtual because I was
1. Far from the location
2. Low on cash but you (HR) specifically said, it's important I come to the office. The CEO left us and the HR apologized and said, " it hard to get CEO to sit" I replied, this meeting didn't last 20 minutes and I had to come here and you telling me this. She apologized again and I informed her I don't have anything on me, she said, "there's nothing she can do"

I quietly went to buy a new padlock and I locked both the CEO and HR with the padlock in their office (their office is in the same cubicle but you enter a door before , you walk into the the door, CEO's on the left & HR on the right) & headed straight to the other staff informing them that I will not leave here until their organization refund my tfare and if they wanted to report to the police the station is just a few blocks away.

The MD wanted to try rubbish with me and I told him plainly in their dialect that I will beat you like my younger brother, if you think you will muscle me away, he attempted and he saw himself on the ground after some fisticuffs.

CEO called Police, I told the officer if you like make DPO or AIG or even IGP come if they don't pay my tfare back to my base I will not open the padlock, the Officer asked where I am coming from, I told him, he shouted, and pleaded I collected just part after the HR confirmed to the officer that everything that happened was true, I respectfully told him, my money must ve complete before I leave the company handing him the receipt I used in coming to the company. Officer Kali, got tired as he saw that I was adamant and wouldn't shift ground. He later left the scene after pleading with the CEO to try and give me the tfare back.

The CEO after seeing that I was dead serious after over 10 hours told them to pay my tfare.

I took my money and told them I will call the HR to inform her were the key was. I had got the park when I sent and sms that it's in the security window.

Since then, that organization adopted virtual interview till date. Few months back, I sent my CV using a different name, they scheduled a virtual meeting. grin

If you applied for a job and you know the method of comms is through calls, not text, not WhatsApp, it is expected that you be available to receive news of your recruitment process.

Employers are always on the look for employees who would come into the organization to help, not just fo their work and go.

Depending on the HR/Employer involved little characteristics or traits from prospective employees tell a lot, for example his not picking the call at that time may have indicated a 'hard to reach' persona.

I was put out a flyer and a lady replied with all info and her CV. She fit the bill perfectly and I called her in for interview the next day.

Next morning came and I got a text -

"Good day Sir, I'm sorry I can't make it the time we agreed. I had all-night in my church and am (sic) very strong right now"

I blocked her immediately and called up someone else.

In summary, if you're still in the labour market and really need a job, ensure you do everything possible to nail it first.

Sorry, I didn't specify that the job is for experienced people. They want people that are already working or have worked for 2 years or more. And when the call came in, the time was 9:00am on a Monday! That is unprofessional from the hr.

Bro/Sis

Every business in Nigeria right now is surviving by the grace of God. I don't want someone to come and wreck me because 'daddy said she should sweep church on Tuesday morning'!
