Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi has described Nigerians questioning the health of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, as petty.

Mr Umahi was reacting to the public condemnation which has trailed Mr Tinubu’s health, especially with his continued absence in key political functions.

“Nobody is totally well and nobody is totally sick. That is one point. Another point is that Nigerians are so petty. A man (Tinubu) that is doing his workout is being videoed and circulated on social media without his knowledge,” Mr Umahi said on Sunrise Daily, a Channels TV programme aired on Monday.

Amid speculations about his health condition, Mr Tinubu on Sunday released a seven seconds ‘proof of life’ video of himself from his London hideout.

After several days of going incommunicado, aides to Mr Tinubu would later reveal that he was in the United Kingdom having a retreat in preparation of campaign.

There have been insinuations that the APC presidential candidate was suffering from urinary incontinence with video footage and pictures emerging from his camp that further fuels questions about his suitability for the presidential seat.

Mr Umahi, who has been a strong supporter of the APC candidate in the Southeast, said Mr Tinubu does not need to prove to Nigerians that is healthy to lead the country.

I know Adetokunbo Oluwatobi Amoda from Benin republic is warming up to impersonate Thîefnubu, but we won't give him that chance.

To me, displaying rally crowds are illiterate moves by ll politicians. This goes to all parties. They should stop all these madness before one of their rallies get bloodshed. People that converged to walk for you are going to vote at separate polling units on election day. So don't come and be showing off crowds at rallies that are probably being sponsored. It's high level of illiteracy aaans ignorance to see rally crowds and believe that a candidate has high chance of winning when it's only crowd at rally and not crowd with pvc that's voting on election day at various polling units. Dunno the kind of brain some Nigerians are using.

Any reputable company will subject a prospective employee to Medicals before engagement. Not to talk of a President that would oversee the affairs & destiny of millions of Nigerians.

Umahi must be totally out of touch with reality to think health is not important in our choice of candidates. A major cause of the slump in our economy can be traced to our current ever ailing President who never seems to be aware of the plight of Nigerians because he spends more time in hospitals abroad, getting stoned from drug overload, than doing the job he was elected for!
