Yorubas and Igbos have never been on the same side politically. Since 1999, the real Yorubas have been APC (only changing party name) and Igbos have been traditionally PDP. While the Yorubas have established themselves in the APC and now taking the center stage, the igbos are still struggling for relevance in the party they have supported for a whole generation. This led to the splinter group (LP) engineered by Obi.
