This is man made not natural disaster The flood is caused by a dam in Cameroon These areas flooded are water ways sold to people by omonile shishi dey will not get as compensation If not that institutions change mandate as new government takes charge, those houses are not supposed to be there. https://www.thecable.ng/nema-13-states-to-record-heavy-flooding-as-cameroon-opens-lagdo-dam/amp |

descartes400: Another postulate. Let me humbly ask this question. Who is not on a waterway in all of Lokoja... Lagos island, Makurdi, Onitsha and other locations under threat. Is waterway a factor of location or rainfall. If rain falls a day longer, a week longer, a month longer, for three more months till the year ends won't it redefine the location of these 'WATERWAYS', because we have all heard this saying that, 'water will always find it's level and chart it's course. So when you are considering buying that land or processing that CofO, who do you consult for safety, a town planner, an environmentalist, geographer or a metrologist.... just asking? Debate.... after looking at the pictures again... carefully. |

Reference: 95% if not more, of the houses, how ever fancy they may look built in water ways seen those pictures are illegal structures. Even when the relevant authorities mark such areas for NO ENCROACHMENT due dangers it poses, people disregard and still build. And that's why you see people building structures under and near high tension electrical wires, building structures that are competing with roads despite repeated warnings but when shit hits the fan..they will be shouting "goffment ,"goffment" .....who walks on train tracks because you think it's a pedestrian track? 1 Like |

I can't mention the number of times I have crossed the river with that ferry or with a boat.they don't even give you al life boat. There was this day the engine of the ferry went off while we were in the middle of the river and it was tilting to one side, my heart sank. na so I begin to dey pray to God say make I see the next day 3 Likes |

Yeah....2012 was the last time something like this happened. Same thing happened in Onitsha/Asaba and this year is worse than 2012. Anambra and Delta are facing same challenges. A 3 storey building in my former church in Onitsha.....Madonna Catholic Church Acha fell today due to the flood, thank God I was told church activities stopped there since about 2 weeks ago due to the flood. Now Churches and Schools in Ogbaru, Atani and those affected areas are suspended till further notice. May God help us kowema: |
