thats just a contemporary word, arabic aswell, havent seen a historical study mentioning this as a native name for the continent.

there is no one "true" name

If you are looking for an original Africa-derived name for the continent, you won't find it. Nobody in Africa was conscious of the fact that we were on one continuous landmass, until cartographer and travellers from Europe and Asia charted the continent.

There was never a particular name for Africa or any part of the world until aggressive conquerors arrived at every part of their own new world and named such place after what is percieved as their own form of footprint.

The Yoruba had three known names for different era of world as a whole because the myth and information in Ifá corpus made mentioned of the creation from the beginning; a form of creation one or Western Scientists called the
" big bang theory."

Herein, the Yoruba folklore assert,that three world existed in which the third among the three is where we are, in the present time of the Yorubas.
The calculations of the Yorubas acknowledged after the flooding that destroyed the world had stopped with Yorubas ancestors as part of the survivors. The names of the existing Iléifẹ are as follow:

Iléifẹ Òóyelágbo
Iléifẹ Akélubẹ́bẹ́/Akànlubẹ́bẹ́

Interestingly, the Gregorian Calendar falls within closely related month of new year celebration but the difference between the Gregorian Calendar's and Yoruba's is "a day plus" (+1 day) or "a day Minus"(-1day) so also with year of existence.
