This is foolish. Lines are security devices, they are linked to our banks accounts, email, financial services websites etc. You cannot justify disconnecting security devices and transfer same to another user.

If that is the case, then you would not allow your security device to go dormant. all mtn did is give you a line. What you do with it is your own business.

Why after nin even when line is linked to bank accounts

I don't understand why organizations arrive at policies without using their brain. My mum wanted to do transfer from 1st bank to another bank. She said they won't give her audience because of the sum she's transferring. I asked her for the sum, she said 82k, I told her I will show them vawulence at counter.

Getting there, the teller she approached said, ma, you can use your phone to transfer it. I screamed at him and every teller there.

Expecting 80 year old woman to be doing her bank transfers online is wickedness. Is it every youth that has a smartphone? Is it everyone that has data? How can you tell me that you attend to customers transferring 200k and above?

They brought out transfer form. Yes, the problem was not caused by those tellers. The useless bank came up with stupid and unfriendly policies.

Let us boycott mtn for a month and see who wins.

This is actually not a bad policy. It used to be 6 months I believe..No activity for 6 months and they recycle your number. GLO is actually less than that, around 3 months. Even prepaid carriers in the western world, UK for example, have a shorter period of 6 months of non-activity before they shut down the line. MTN is being generous.

I live outside Nigeria and have had my MTN line for about 11 years or so. If I do not make it to Nigeria in 6 months, I just make a chargeable activity (top up, take a roaming call, make a call, send SMS, or use data) to keep it going.

Note: Receiving calls or SMS while in Nigeria is NOT a revenue generating activity. Revenue generating activity means your credit balance has to Change (top up, take a roaming call, make a call, send SMS, or use data) .

Just top it up or use it when you are abroad. You just need a chargeable activity. A simple SMS that costs close to nothing will keep the line going.

Why not. Your SIM card will roam fine on multiple networks in Canada. I live in the US but have had my line for 11 years. I just make a chargeable activity every 6 months, if I do not make it to Nigeria within that period. . It roams here on T-mobile and AT&T.

Don't you have the SIM card with you? If you do, then put it in a phone, it will latch onto one of the networks, and there you go. If you don't have it, then you are out of luck!

No contract is binding if it violates rights of Nigerians as enshrined in the constitution of their contry. It is not your fault to say Nigerians are lazy if you some people have put you at a spot to do a dummy job which requires no free mind or really independent study.

I related with the telecom operators in this country for seven good years - I won't tell you in what capacity. So, I know what I'm saying. That attempt to tax us will only succeed only if we and our government want the rip-off. Full stop.
