Blank Verse
Blank verse is a poetic device that refers to a poem that has a meter with 10 syllables (iambic pentameter) but does not have a regular rhythm and rhyme. A blank verse does not have specific lines in poetry, not like a sonnet that has fourteen lines. The iambic pentameter of a blank verse is not rhymed due to its acceptance of any kind of meter in poetry.

In short, free verse does not have the regular rhythm, meter and rhyme scheme, but, blank verse has. Blank verse usually has meter iambic pentameter which means five stressed syllables and give unstressed syllables. The syllables in each line of a poem that is blank verse are always the same.
