Hello Nairalanders,
Civil engineering has always been my dream career since I was little but I am afraid it's might not be an option for health and financial reasons. Health because I recently found out during my industrial training that I am allergic to concrete dust.
The financial reason is majorly because of the poor negotiation power civil engineers have (at least those in construction industry which constitute the bulk of available jobs) .
So during my internship I have been taking time to explore the world of data science and analytics, sharpening my excel skills, learning python, sql(MySQL) and tableau.
One thing I've noticed since I started is that I enjoyed it mainly because it utilizes a lot of maths courses I did in uni.
I want to know, is it advisable based on the present condition of the country to make that switch and start applying for internships/ entry level jobs now that I am in my final year in Uni or stick to engineering?

Mind you, Data Science is specialized on the statistics branch of mathematics.

You only brushed through just a bit of that in 300/400 level Math (Numerical Analysis) if you read engineering.

Or is that I don't get what you are trying to say?.

Thanks for the feedback.
I did numerical analysis and linear algebra coupled with a algorithm design like monte Carlo simulation, dynamic programming and FFT in 300 level
I have also been doing a lot of reading on stats in my free time
