Two weeks ago, they called the guy that his father is seriously sick, he traveled home and the father was taken to the hospital, but the nature of the illness, and statement from the doctors it's not sure the man can recover before the wedding day except miracle from God.

I think him and his wife will need to visit his dad and get his consent and blessing for the marriage and ask for his mother to come for the wedding on Thursday, rest Friday, attend wedding on Saturday and rest Sunday then travel back

This grace period will worth their presence and they will have to make arrangements for some one to be with the sick father

It will be naughty if non of his parents are present in the wedding

Besides even if his dad is discharged from the hospital, Doctor must put him on bed rest, which means he won't even come in the first place

Or should they postpone it however long it takes till the father gets well?

It's not even a terminal illness, it's not as if the dad has been I'll for long. He can still get better so they shouldn't postpone and just set their mind on a low key wedding.

An uncle or your brother can stand in for your dad. It is not a good idea to cancel the wedding. If you cancel it, don't be surprised if you are unable to do the wedding even by next year.
