Hello guys, so I want to hear your opinion about what happened today in my niece's school.

They were practicing for their forthcoming inter house sports and my niece collided with another student, which made the girl fall, she got hurt and started limping

The school called my sister and her husband and asked them to take the injured girl to the hospital and foot the bills.

Please is this right??
My niece is so saddened by it as they have made her feel guilty, shouldn't the school be the ones to take her to the hospital? After all they are representing the school at the inter house sports they were practicing for.

Note they are 12 year olds in JSS2

That school lacks the ability to take responsibility.

It is the responsibility of the school to take the student to the hospital, while informing the parents of both students what happened and the hospital the student is being taken to.

If the school forces them to pay the hospital bills and they can afford it, no worries; however, they should take their kids out of such a school.

What happened at the school is an accident and isn't suppose to be lumped on one parent just because the school decided that they can afford it. I suspect maybe they were running then collided into each other, if that is the case then why put the blame on one person making her feel guilty of the accident. Before her parents does what the school is forcing them to do, they should find out exactly how the collision happened, so as to know how to proceed from there. The school management doesn't know how to handle such happenings, they would have either treat the two students involved and informing their parents on what happened and how it happened and also what they did as the school, (because like it or not the school are supposed to ensure the safety and well-being of the students with them within those hours they are within the premises.) or call the parents to school to treat their children following the collision as they (the school) couldn't treat the affected students.

They should take your niece out of the school.

This is disgraceful. Your relatives should withdraw the kids from the school

This is school approved activity the two were taking part in before the incident,and as such, that makes the school completely responsible for the kids welfare and every other thing,your niece parents can only pay for the treatment out of charity and should not be a mandatory obligation
