Russia fired missiles at targets in Ukraine on Tuesday, with at least two striking residential buildings in the center of Kyiv, the capital, as Moscow unleashed one of its first major aerial attacks since Ukraine recaptured a key city in the south.

“Residents of Kyiv, stay in shelters, two explosions have been recorded in the capital so far,” the Kyiv City Administration wrote in a message to residents.

The Ukrainian Air Force warned earlier this week that Moscow was stockpiling missiles to renew its assault on Ukraine’s already battered energy infrastructure. Russian forces launched a series of attacks, including with drones, that targeted Kyiv and other cities in October, striking civilian targets and infrastructure.

Air raid sirens are currently active across every region of Ukraine, with missiles reportedly having been fired from Russia on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

According to the head of the military administration of the city of Kryvvi Rih, Oleksandr Vilkul, a “mass launch” of Kh-101 missiles took place in the Vologograd-Astrakhan Region, with Euromaiden Press reporting that a five-storey building in Kyiv is currently on fire.

“Urgently take cover,” Vilkul warned in a Telegram post. “Mass launch of x-101 missiles from TU-95 from the Volgograd-Astrakhan area, probably in two waves.

“Targets in Ukraine unknown. Do not ignore safety!”

On Telegram, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko wrote: “Attack on the capital. According to preliminary information, two residential buildings were hit in the Pechersk district.

Instead of attacking military targets, Russia is expending their extremely limited supply of missiles trying to target energy infrastructure for civilians for the winter. How on brand for the terrorists.
