A dslr camera can capture in RAW which means in post production, you can further edit whereas most phones capture in jpeg which is already compressed.
Another angle is that, most pictures captured on phone are just good for phone cuz of the phone small resolution, when you take them to pc or you try to print, they become blur cuz the dpi is low (probably 72ppi)

If you have taught photography for ten years, then you should know that the D60 (released around 2006/07) is an outdated piece of junk!

Firstly, the D60 uses an outdated CCD sensor that is notorious for its poor low-light capabilities. The D60 beyond ISO 800 is a noisy piece of junk. Most flagship mobile phones made as from 2020 coupled with AI would rival the D60's IQ even in low light conditions.

And yes! Most phones can trigger off camera speedlight and strobes perfectly too.

Your agreement should have been that the D60 features a larger sensor (APS-C) area which is almost ten times the size of what we have in mobile phones today. In photography, a larger sensor size means better image quality. Reason why a full frame sensor would in all logic outperform an smaller APS-C sensor. But the problem is that with technological improvements, such gaps are beginning to be narrowed down greatly. For example, the sensors on say the Fuji XT-5 or Sony a6400 are so good(IQ), fast, improved that they'll rival full frame options from like 12-15 years ago.

Then we have Medium Format sensors (even larger than full frame sensor) from Hasselblad, Fuji, PhaseOne etc. These ones are the unrivaled kings of image quality.

It's the same argument and logic I'm using for some badda$$ phone vs the D60. Shallow DOF can actually be achieved on modern flagship phone in one click too. AI no go kill person ooo.

This camera is not good for modern pictures at all. Any New iPhone will do waaay better.
