Question For My Muslim Brothers by snazzydawn(f): 5:15pm On Aug 24, 2011
I usually don't like to post in the 'Religious' section but I just feel I should vent, I cannot keep it in.
Yesterday,I lost a friend and former colleague in Kano, and it was very avoidable!
From what I was told, she was on achaba(okada) and they had a mild accident along Kurna, and she fell off from the okada and hit her head on the floor, then became unconscious. Now,the okadaman was unharmed, and there were other passersby, who rather than shift her to a safe side of the road, declined, reason being, they were fasting and so it was a taboo to soil their hands touching a woman,so they left her there, until an oncoming trailer on full speed crushed her to death.
When the okadaman and a few passersby whom the police could catch were questioned on why they didn't move her to a safe side of the road, they said that according to their religion,it was a sin/taboo for a muslim during ramadan to touch a female.
My muslim brothers, if this is really true about your religion, which I strongly doubt, then it's very disappointing. That some people in the name of religion would watch a fellow human being helpless,in the face of imminent danger and would rather that he/she die than help because 1.she's unclean 2.she's an infideluld watch a fellow human being helpless,in the face of imminent danger and would rather that he/she die than help because 1.she's unclean 2.she's an infidel

religion can be very dangerous when interpreted wrongly and people lack knowledge or are shrouded in ignorance.

at that point in time when the life of the woman was in danger,it is permitted for them to assist her in whatever way they can including touching her to rescue her life.ask any expert on the shariah,be he shia or sunni, and that would be the view.

it is not permitted to touch a woman not related to man through blood or marriage or even shake hands with her in normal situation.but in an emergency situation which has to do with life and death,it is allowed to touch the woman.nothing is wrong with that because the intention of touching her is not to break the law or have anything intimate with her but rather to save her life.in that case,if those men would have helped that woman which involves touching her,Almighty Allah will for certain reward them well.that is what islam is and islam is all about enlightenment and not the backwardness some northerners demonstrate and they then use islam as excuse.they better open their heads and stop being foolish!

the Almighty Go is all-knowing and He also knows the intention of people and what is in their mind as the Holy Quran tells us.

i doubt it because it sounds credible to me coming from someone who (like she said) hardly posts in the religion section. She genuinely wants to know what happened to her friend.

You see how religion maleš people stu.pid.

Moved to the islamic section

I am very sorry for the death of your friend and the ignorance of those Muslims who failed to rescue a follow human being in danger such behavior  is unacceptable and against the teaching of Islam

There is an extraordinary value for human life in Quran in Surah 5 verse 32 Allah Says :
" On that account we ordained for the children of Israel that if anyone kill a person unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land it would be as killing the whole humanity and if anyone saved a life it would be as he saved the whole humanity , " Quran 5:32

In  Islam in normal condition a man should not touch a woman who is not Mahram (relative) however there are some circumstances in which it is permissible for man to look and touch woman when her life or honor are in danger
in such case even the prohibited parts of the body of the woman can be seen and touched and it is not only lawful but obligatory for man to rescue her from imminent  danger whether in Ramadan or not

Allah has created us all, the believers and the non believers. Allah stresses the preservation of lives more than taking it. Ramadhan should be the time the believers are most eager to help, discharge justice. unfortunately, if those people truly have knowledge of their religion, the spirit of Islam would have been seen. Nigerian traffic, the speeding and transporting, both need to be overhauled.

Most of the muslims from the North are illitrate. They dont value human life. I have witness something close to this when i was in Kano.
Re: Question For My Muslim Brothers by maclatunji: 9:55am On Aug 26, 2011
No be dem say. I have carried a girl that almost fell from a bus trying to get in at early morning rush hour. I did not think twice about it. If I did, she would have fallen awkwardly. Your story may be true or not but I will have you know that rules in Islam are not meant to punish anybody. Hence, where there is an emergency most of the rules are waived until the state of emergency passes.

And yes, saving a person's life is indeed an emergency even that of spam bot wannabe Frosbel.

In the Qur'an it is stated that who so ever saves a life it would be as if he has saved the whole of Humanity . . ., the story seems doubtful but if it is true then I think it is the height of ignorance any living Muslim can show, well maybe not seeing in the religion section a all edged ex Muslim could claim Muslim make invocations for the Sun.
