Local and international observers who adjudged the April 2011 elections as the most transparent in Nigeria will be proved wrong when the suit against President Goodluck Jonathan is determined, spokesman of General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of Congress of Progressive Change (CPC) in the April elections, Mr Yinka Odumakin, has said.

Odumakin told The Nation that it was wrong to conclude that President Jonathan won the election because CPC has ample evidence that the election was a monumental fraud.

He said: “You heard the Chief Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akwa Ibom State, saying that the greatest regret of his life was being part of that shameful April elections. You would have heard of Professor Itse Sagay’s position on the elections, a man that you cannot fault his character.”

He noted that in Rivers State, with such a difficult terrain, it was not quite plausible that it could have mustered such a speed to collate the results. It was one of the earliest in Abuja, when others that have accessible roads were still struggling to put their figures together.

“In Imo State, for instance, they said about 90 percent of the voters turned out to vote for the PDP in the presidential election and, the following week when the governorship election which was keenly contested was held, the pendulum swung. At the end of the day, Rochas Okorocha won with that over 300,000 votes and it was said over a million voted for President Jonathan earlier, so where was the PDP previous overwhelming result? Cases like that abound,” the spokesman averred.

Odumakin further said: “Part of the reasons General Buhari could not go to court was that he had gone twice but did not get justice. But this time around, the CPC said it would not let go the fraud it observed and that is why it is in court to contest the April elections.”

He refuted the claims that the CPC presidential flag-bearer was too rigid for the country. Maintaining that what Nigerians termed as rigidity was just sheer principle, this he likened to the late sage Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

“That is why I said General Buhari and Chief Awolowo are birds of the same feather. That was how people said Awolowo was rigid, just because he was principled. I remember when he was campaigning in 1983; Awo said, ‘people say I’m too rigid, I will continue to be rigid all my life, if standing on the path of truth means rigidity.”

Odumakin explained that Awolowo was a great politician who could not be compromised; he could not be blown by any wind and stood for the people he wanted to serve. He was loved and hated for this position, which is the same way General Buhari is being seen because he loves the country and wants to serve.

“They are principled leaders but flexible in terms of tactics. Those who say Buhari is rigid know where he stands, that there will be discipline under him. It could not have been business as usual as people who thrive in corruption would flee and his administration would have brought equity before the law.”

Yeah I know He will prove critics wrong by contesting again in 2015.

BTW those underage voters packed up in the north voted CPC,why is He or his supporters not condemning such acts?

Uncle Henry. Abeg no vex o.

To what extent was CPC responsible for registration of underage voters??

How many underage voters did CPC register in anticipation for the presidential elections??

Common knowledge reveals that most underage registration in the north was supported and promoted by State Governors to skew results of Gubernatorial elections to their benefit. Guess which party these Governors belonged to?

It is silly to think that someone registered underage individuals in each state in order to alter the Presidential election results. That may have been a secondary objective. The primary objective for the Northern Governors was to cement their re-emergence in the Gubernatorial polls. And I don't think the governors who sponsored the underage voting would direct it against the PDP in the presidential elections. Not after GEJ emptied our ECA to make them very happy.

@jensinmi
Who has control of INEC? Governors or Federal Government? - It is th FG.

CPC do not register voter, the goverment through INEC are responsible for underage voters registered. Why would CPC even bother when they are already very popular in the North. Logic would tell you that the PDP and INEC used those underage voters to raise their votes in the North - Think about it.

Jonathan also got humongous votes in the North, it can be assumed that he got them via underage voters as well.

Whatever, however!
Buhari is a spent force. The likes of him should simply go home and leave Nigeria alone.

From independence until now, a particular set of people has held this nation to ransom and I am wondering why many are so blind to see it.

Let us go to the polls again and again, I will never vote for Buhari, IBB or any of their likes. Gowon just like Gadafi became Head of State at the age of 26 and Gadaffi after 42 years is still head of state. Only in Africa do we have people like Gadaffi, OBJ, Buhari and IBB destroying the nations.

That's the whole point. What are people like Buhari, Ibb, and co looking for in government? It's sickening to see them hovering all over the places like hawks. Their stranglehold on Nigeria is broken, they should go and sit quietly and watch; or they should go and play with their grandchildren!  Na wa oo.

Re: Buhari Will Soon Prove Critics Wrong by ashala(m): 4:44pm On Aug 25, 2011
well this is a case of rigging and out rigging. It is as clear as Crystal that both Buhari and Jonathan both rigged, what simply happened was that Jonathan had an upper hand in the rigging. Therefore, Buhari should stop making noise angry.

This man sef. Why is it only Imo state he used? Why did he not ask about Lagos? Did they not vote PDP for president but voted ACN for governor? But he knows it was what Lagosians wanted. No be by force o.

^^^ Lagos state seems to be in order. It isnt out of place.
I think he was reffering to the Volume of people that The INEC claimed came out to vote. The peopl of IMO wanted GEJ no doubt but the volume of peeps that turned out for the presidential as against the governorship seems to be over the board

After all economic blunders committed under this current dispensation, i am surprised that some people are still beclouded and unrepentant about voting for GEJ. We really deserve Jonathan and his PDP thieving cronies !!!! May God have mercy on our next generations.

Please whatelse does all these Buhari followers of a thing want for God sake. Sorry we all know "Oh Buhari is tough, oh Buhari is discipline, oh Buhari is no nonsesnse fine good enough but Nigerian say "No" or is their any other way to say No again for God sake?

Someone is citing Imo state as example but in Lagos Fashola swept vote like hurricane and all eyes witnessed it that everybody voted for Jonathan this a plain broad day things for God sake. Every polling station in Lagos we all saw the queue for Buhari and Jonathan so what make Imo case an exceptional please I need answer

I was even expecting ACN to say they wanted to challenge Jonathan not CPC this is so weird to be honest. CPC made no serious campaing, no serious structure on ground, how many seat do they won in National assembly, how many state do they won I mean  please let us be reasonable how can a man aspiring or a party aspiring to be president and his own party won just two state or three state out of 36 states for God sake? How can a president rule where his party has just four or five seat in both lower and upper chamber of National assembly for goodness sake? Please is there any country in the entire world that has such president under this situation and the country move on well

Let them wait till 2015 which I guess wont come because it would be the turn of Igbo then and the Igbo are not for Buhari craps at all. I know his die hard supporters will jump on this thread I posted to say all sort of things I wont be worry or surprise their mentor Buhari and Bakare are known for loose mouth to have their ways.
