Earlier this year, I went back in time to few years back when I was doing so well in Nigeria. The noises from friends and all nurtured the decision to move abroad inside of me. I became so restless till I finally leave. The first day in Canada was the day I knew this place isn't where I can be forever. Most of us would have come back before the time we had in mind except for the fact that I don't still have enough. If I want to travel to naija for vacation now, I will need up to $4k. If I take that away from my savings, I don't know how I can recover.

No one tells about the downside of this place. I feel lonely, depressed and empty most times. Because no one to talk to, just everyone in my workplace goin about their business. If I make attempt to talk to them, they just waive it with a smile. It's been 3years here and the people I still talk to on video call are friends from Nigeria. It's been 3years and my savings is still Short of $20k despite how much my friends in Nigeria do tell me how easy it is for me to make money abroad but I never tell them my situation. I can't wait to make enough and leave Canada for good. I know a lot will come at me with the usuall "come back to Nigeria na", please this is not an attempt to denigrate your abroad heaven, just for me to rant out and be fine

If your savings is 20k, then take 4k from it and come back to Nigeria where it’s fun.

This loneliness in Canada story is getting stale already. Most immigrants dont even make Canada their final destination anymore!

My dear I can really relate with u... Going 3 years in america and it wasnt easy.. If u no get family here e get as e be... Come talk more of u make good money and it goes back on bills only good thing about america be say the money I give back u get what u paying for but I can't save little or nothing if u aint smart with billings from leaches back home... Everybody both the one I know and the one I no know wan take from u not knowing if u get... Abeg who wan come here come ooo infact I know peraon wain fit help u relocate to america na ur pocket dey talk.. I will gladly welcome u to this boring life... I feel your pain brother. The loneliness can kill. Blacks you can't trust, whites on the other hand are so distant. Everyone is Hi and goodbye and social life can be really expensive in comparison to Naija.

Looking at work prospects as well, you can't expect to be rolling in millions except you have a professional job. It's alarming how much tax and rent swallows up that you barely have money left to save not to talk of going on vacation and this manual work we're talking about no easy at all.

What I'll share with you is to just get your paper. At least with that you relocate come naija and Japa anytime you want.

I have friends working in tech companies in Europe. Since they're not needed physically in the office, many relocated to Nigeria, living in Abuja and still earning their Euros.

The cold nko, make I no talk abeg. Just focus on your plans

Since $4k dollars can cover your expenses to visit home why don’t you come at least once in a year? This is way you will be around friends and family.

You can also try dating seriously and considering getting married by becoming active in church and Nigerian associations.

I never wanted to travel but the growing insecurity and frustrating online payments may drive me out. Things should pick up economically next year when Bubu is gone.

Socializing abroad isn't as easy as most think. Everyone stay indoor here because the weather isn't exactly bearable most of the day
