How will every ethnic group benefit. There is no turn by turn. Even the pdp that said turn by turn, was that not where Obi ran away from? Turn by turn will work if you had like two tribes. It can never work with the myriad of ethnic groups we have.

PDP ruled for 16yrs.
South..... OBJ 6yrs.
North....Yradua 2yrs.
South....HEJ 6yrs.

It is the turn of the NORTH...Atiku.
After Atiku it should go to South East.

President Goodluck was lucky to be vice at that time. Mores, the support he got was not based on equity.

Is Goodluck Jonathan Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba?

Even Atiku is not saying it should go to the north. He is contesting because he feels h e cam win. Nobody will give any body on a platter.

Pa Adebanjo, the Afenifere leader within his right decided that Peter Obi is his preferred candidate. But his premise for the support - Equity and Justice - is indeed faulty.

How do you measure equity and justice in a society with several ethnic groups - where only three groups are often mentioned - with the other groups regularly sidelined.

Apart from the Yorubas, Ibos and Hausa/Fulani, we have the Benins, Efiks, Ibibio, Igala, Tiv, Jukun, Ijaws, Itsekiris to name a few. Even within the major tribes there are different groups.

In canvassing for Peter Obi on the basis of equity and justice where does he leave the other tribes. Do those ethnicity not have a right to be president of the nation as well. Are the Efiks, Ibibio, Tiv, Nupe and the rest less Nigerian than the Yorubas, Ibos and Hausas?

Also, political power is not served on a platter, it is strategically fought for. Nobody will give power for the sake of giving it. When President Barack Obama became the president of the USA, it was not because they were trying to repay the blacks. He won because people believed he had what it took to be president not because of equity and justice.

The premise of equity and justice looks like a way to emotionally blackmail and it is not good enough.

It was based on JUSTICE! We are witnesses to how the cabals fought hard to block him from emerging president when his principal died. Obasanjo was made president based on JUSTICE. To assuage the Yorubas for the injustice meted out to MKO.

Equity and Justice go hand in hand when we talk of fair dealings. But you are free to promote whatever cause you believe in.

Most of the ethnic groups you mentioned are not in the SE.

99% of SE indigenes are Igbos. When the presidency gets to the SS or NC, you can start worrying about the groups you mentioned.

A man from the Angas minority ethnic group from the NC has held the Nigerian executive power for 9 years.
An Ijaw man from the SS has held the executive power of the nation for about 5 years

But the Igbos, who happen to be one of the top three most populous ethnic groups in Nigeria, have only held the executive power of Nigeria for just 6 months.

What this all means is that fairness and equity requires that an Igbo man holds that executive power.

The Yorubas did not support Obasanjo, Falae had the support of most Yorubas. Obasanjo won because the powers that be knew what they wanted. Also other parties also contested. And even if you based it on that, what is the yardstick for this equity? Jonathan was a president and won the next election as a president. He was already in the game.

What rule written and unwritten lists the region that is to get the presidency? What process has it in play that the southeast should have the presidency in 2023. Even the party PDP that the southeast always voted for before Okorocha and Umahi's defection did not give the slot to the southeast. Yes it is good to look at equity but in this instance the talk of equity and justice is just playing to the gallery. As Soludo said, the south east needs to play politics right. No body gives power just like that. This is not a class captain election.

Nigerian jaundiced constitution at least still talks about the federal character and the need to maintain it. This clause alone, justifies the need for the presidency to get to the Igbos.

Now getting to Soludo, playing good politics doesn't necessarily mean, denying yourself the chance of running for the presidency.

You can go and advice Tinubu and Atiku. Polls are still favouring Obi in spite of the fact that he is running on the ticket of a #structureless party#

The federal character talks about appointments/recruitment to different post in MDAs, ministries, military and others. It has nothing to do with presidency and governorship race. Election is not appointment. If you are popular enough test yourself against others. Appointments has nothing to do with popularity.

You got it all wrong. Pa Adebanjo is of the opinion that the tye Presidency of Nigeria should rotate between North and South, and between geopolitical zones.

There over 300 ethnic groups in Nigeria, it would taje over one thousand years to rotate the Presidency amongst them. Thats why the Presidency rotates amongst the 6 zones

When it comes to the South, the South West has had years with Obasanjo, the South South has had 6 years with Jonathan, while the South East has had zero

A Northerner is about to conclude 8 years and power should go back South. If you really believe in justice and equity, which zone in the South should Pa Adebanjo support?

I get your point of view. However, elections are not won with rhetorics of equity and justice. Every election apart from 1999 have had people from different zones contesting.

The winner (either by hook or crook) has always been the most popular not based on the zone he came from.

So if Obi will win let it be because he is the most popular not by rhetorics of equity and justice.

If indeed it is the turn of the south east as being touted, then the support should be for a candidates from the southeast not just one man.

Election is appointment by the majority.

Nigerians are appointing the head of their military, as he will be the commander in chief of Nigerian armed forces.

So the ederal character principle is still very much in play
