A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal on Thursday claimed the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu said campainging in the South-East was a waste of time and resources during the party’s primaries.

“During the convention, he didn’t even allow us go the South-East,” Mr Lawal said on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

“He said it was a waste of time and money.”

Mr Lawal made the comment while analysing Mr Tinubu’s chances in the imminent February presidential polls.


According to him, the APC candidate stands no chance of winning the election.

Mr Lawal has endorsed the Labour Party’s Peter Obi, although he is still a member of the APC.

He broke off with Mr Tinubu after the latter announced a Muslim as his running mate for the 2023 polls.

Mr Lawal and some other APC members had advocated for the appointment of a Northern Christian in order to balance the ticket.

*APC mismanagement of nation economy and high insecurity across the country, people can't travel by roads, or rail, cost of air transport is on highest price since the creation of this country travelling by air in 2015 from East to Lagos that was around 18k is now 90k, East to Abuja is now 70k, Land transport very expensive, every commodities increased to 300%, people are suffering, I doubt if you are in this country, Nigerians will aggressively vote out APC

* Muslim-Muslim ticket will affect his chances in Southwest, South-East, Middle Belt and Christians in far north who are going through a lot with insecurity
*Old age and fragile health will work against him

* Oluwale falsification of his identity and drug cases

Many bad factors working against him

Those around him are just milking him

Even if they hate on Asiwaju Tinubu from today till February next year and work for the mushroom party that has no NA candidate for most polling units on same day Presidential election is conducted , alalanlala, it is PDP they are robbing of votes.

Will PDP watch idly till these guys wreck them? I am not naive to think so. PDP will soon bear its fangs. PDP will hurt those hurting it. They have so much at stake that latest by December 31, expect PDP crushing them or kicking them out. From Oyo to Rivers to Enugu to Benue to Abia, PDP will wreck those Governors except they seek protection from APC. APC and Asiwaju know this hence they are not giving in to the demands of the G5.

Ordinary Lagos PDP that has never won Governorship election since 1999 is already fighting back. They physically assaulted one another last weekend. Do you know why? The G5 were suggesting that PDP members vote against Jandor and Atiku. The meeting ended in a fiasco.
APC has locked down NW, SW, NE and NC. Just 2 days ago; Bauchi Governor endorsed whoever Buhari tells them to vote for. Bauchi is in NE.

So G5 or no G5, APC has not yielded its strongholds.

However, even Tinubu knows that he cannot get a reasonable number of votes in the region that's why he didn't bother campaigning there during the primaries.
