Innoson needs to begin a sideline producing Electric Vehicles befor it's too late. Nigerians are clever, capable people, I have no doubt Innoson is capable of manufacturing an entirely indigenous Nigeria EV if he embraces the challenge. Right now many Nigerians can afford to buy several EV brands from China that are cheaper than the ice cars they may ordinarily buy from Europe or America, but they are unaware of this. As far as charging, in terms of obstacle, people in Nigeria can get around this with only a little effort. |

ufotunang: Innoson is not aggressive with regards to marketing his products to Nigerians. GAC motors in the South West for instance has mortgage packages in conjuction with banks. You can acquire their vehicles with an initial 10 percent payment while you pay the balance on instalments basis over some years, 4 years I think. This is why you see a lot of GAC motors on Nigerian roads. Apparently, only the government is able tp get items on credit from innoson motors. As long as you are a private individual, you will be expected to make full payment before you can pick up innoson products. Then there is this problem of overzealous misrepresentation of Innoson by some people (not innoson himself but some overzealous noise makers). I had a personal experience. The other time I saw an innoson SUV in use in one of the FG institutions in the South west and I was so impressed that I told one of my colleagues I was going to put an innoson vehicle in my cart cos I needed to drive one of his products. Guess what the response of this my colleague and friend who happens to be an Igbo is? "If it weren't for we Igbos, you won't have the opportunity of driving a locally manufactured automobile", yes that was his immature response to a patriotic Nigerian willing to patronise home grown product. I was pained that someone I associate with and with that level of exposure had to be so pedestrian and emotional, so I schooled him. ¶ Dangote happens to be a rich African who is into manufacturing and owns companies in African countries, yet you don't hear Hausas say that Nigerians wouldn't have had the opportunity to access cement if not for a Hausa man Dangote. ¶ Mike Adenuga brought globacom that destroyed the monopoly of MTN and made GSM ownership an affordable thing for many Nigerians at the initial stage and forced MTN to bring down their prices. Globacom is available in Ghana and a few other African countries, yet you don't hear Yorùbás brag about this. Proforce in Ogun State supplies Nigerian army, Ecowas and Portugal military trucks, but whenever the glory is to be given, what you hear is "if its not for Nigerians", you don't hear "if it's not for Yorùbás". I told him I was dissapointed and pained that he had to utter such statement. So y'all can imagine how much damage the many unguarded and emotional outbursts of such manner can do to relationship amongst everyday Nigerians, just as it happens on nairaland. Now some people were arguing that the FG under Buhari had not patronised Innoson whereas the facts say otherwise. Cyprin: Innoson has his manufacturing licence under partly mitsubishi motor and majorly under another Chinese motor company. He uses their auto parts under licence to manufacture his own brand. He locally manufactures the plastic parts and chairs etc (innoson is also into plastic tank manufacturing) but imports the engines and parts that can't be manufactured here. Batteries are sourced for locally from another factory in Nigeria. GAC automobile Nigeria chose to retain the original name of the company. They could have changed their name too and continue using the parts from GAC. |

advanceDNA: No, I worry about the IQ level of some posters allowed to post on this forum. I took a couple of minutes to find you a positive article and link about the great progress that Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Co. Ltd. is making in the country and on the continent and you post that negative energy response. |

2023NaijaVoter: Its not negative....its just that i expected more from the goverment.... if we could close the borders and lay embargo and rice one of the most important nigerian food so that local productions thrive.... the goverment can do better than these few states... . i ddnt expert nigeria will still spend borrowed money on lexus, benz and toyota yet complain about how broke we are |
