Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise GOD
----

One of the unforgettable teachings we received during Marital Counselling was from an Anglican Priest.

One sunny afternoon while seated in his office, he looked straight into my eyes and said, "There are three things a man must never touch."

He paused and raised his fingers as if to count:

The Glory.

The Gold.

The Girls.

As he said this, I immediately flipped open my notes and began to jot down his lessons. I paused after writing to reflect on his words:

"The Gold" "The Girls" "The Glory"

This was a good place to put the SELAH prompt.

By "glory", he meant to truly see God as the center of our lives; to so live as to make Him Lord in all things. Not touching the glory meant seeing God as the source of our success and all that we are.

In a world where we crave recognition, status, and spend huge sums to create a persona so as to receive certain benefits, there is a call to turn it all back to God.

"All things", scripture says, "were made by him and without him was there anything made that was made." We owe God our entire existence. Giving him the glory is the very least of the things we should do.

God ain't gonna share his glory. Don't. Touch. It.

By "gold", he didn't mean not to have wealth or pursue financial success, rather he spoke of it in terms of giving to God what truly belongs to him and, most importantly, not getting usurped with the pursuit of money and all that life on earth has to offer.

Gold may be shiny, but we wouldn't carry any of it out of this earth anyway. Besides, the gold which we so labour to get on earth is mere dust in heaven where our mansions are waiting to be occupied by us.

By "girls", the answer was already obvious. Every man should have his own wife.

These days, our ears and eyes are filled with sad stories of supposed clergymen who anoint the private parts of women, rape, and molest women to "deliver" them or "save" them from whatever they claim is the problem.

It's saddening to see that men "touch" girls at any given opportunity they have.

The fact that a lady is within your reach, under your care, or dependent on you is not license to touch her.

I often wonder, haven't these men read the letters of Paul to Timothy (a letter to us all) saying to treat sisters with "all purity"?

Haven't they read that our bodies are not for fornication but for the Lord?

Indeed, if all men were to adhere to these three simple principles:

- We will have men who are so submitted to God and who have a reverential awe for him and defer to him at every point in their lives. We will have men who are not arrogant, pompous or "self-made".

- We will have men who pursue honest living, work with integrity, and are financially accountable to themselves and their families.

- We will have men who treat all women with dignity, respect, and honor.

I hope this teaches us as much as it taught me.

Happy new week friends.
