As much as I'm not in support of truce breaking, out lecturers need to behave smarter than the government. There are better ways of pressing ones demand than an industrial action.

You didn't work for eight months why should you be paid? A better way of going about it will have been to teach the students, examine them but don't release their results. This alone will cause a graduation crisis, NYSC crisis, labor market crisis. The students and their guardians will be the once pressing governments neck. As a lecturer you can't be accused of not working.

You want make Students descend on the Lecturers, the way Youths did to Police during EndSars? It will be bloody and FG will allow the Students deal mercilessly with the Lecturers, before Police will be used to calm the Students down.

The only options ASUU have now is to work. No more strike. Seize Students results and their body go tell them.

I love your idea! ASUU and lectures are very arrogant. They always take FG for granted over the years. They failed to be realistic with the current economic condition of the country and the world at large. They should have call off the strike and continue negotiations and adopting different tactics of showing their displeasure. Personally, it will pain me if ASUU collect the full 8month salary of them not working.
However,to trail on the path of pity, I will advocate that only 4 months salary should be paid to them. This is to serve as a deterrent to them that every action has consequences.

It's because they get paid while on strike they have remained foolish

that is a useful suggestion and might be something the lectures consider, however, it only means the private university graduates will be the ones who will get the jobs in the labour market.
frankly the FG doesn't care if parents make noise etc, their own children abroad will come back and get appointments in cbn, nnpc and other juicy offices.

I feel for this guys. If you see our leturers, you will know all is not well.
and who's fault is it? Were they owed any dime prior till they went on holidays for 8 months?

Good for them. Next time they should consider what they'd lose to before embarking on holiday leave in the name of strikes.

I met some lecturers and they are so sure Buhari will pay them arrears. I am still watching the drama anyway.
Buhari might still pay them but not as soon as they'd expect. He want make Dem suffer Wella to teach them lessons and I support that.

Next time they'd have sense before contemplating on wasting student's time on holidays in the name of strike

buhari has said no work no pay is in our constitution and he’s going to obey it. if ASUU attempts another strike, they won’t also be paid as well.

Until it is amended, the law is the law!

How will he declare indefinite strike when he is getting his salary and every benefits attached to it?

Are you that dumb?
How will he go on strike, when he is gallivanting all ove the globe and there's nothing to show for what he has done.

We know the president would have relieved him of his job especially in a time like this with all the stealing and scarcity but how do you expect the president to sack himself?

Use your brain naa,I ask you this question again,is he doing his job as the petroleum minister?

why is ASUU so obsessive with demands, demands every year? something is not right here

I still wonder if they see the point of others in their own quest for salary increase all the time.

I still wonder what is intellectual in inccesant strike ..... its the crude tool of the uneducated labour! where is diplomacy, exigesy, tolerance and conflict resolution principles?

do they even care about their products - GRADUATES? AND their model role in rights, priviledges and tolerance?

Students may soon strike against the lecturers soon

ASUU embarked on strike because federal government renegade on the agreement reached with the union. Having waited for the implementation of these agreements to no avail, they resulted to strike as Las option to drive home their demands. This resolution was after peaceful and diplomatic approach failed to address the issues.
If we agree on '' no work no pay clause '' as federal government says, what if these Lecturals decide to skip the previous work loads and jump to the new work load (a situation where about to graduate students, newly intake and those that suppose to move to the next academic level would be abandoned and start with 2022 /2023 academic year?)
We just have to be balanced and fair in our judgment.
If government had implemented the agreement, their wouldn't have been any room for strike in the first place.
